400H Landscape Samples?

It's negative film-and a favorite. I plan on using more. For landscapes, it doesn't give me the magenta cast that Reala does, and is kind to fair-skinned people.

How do you scan it? (Scanner, software, anything special about your settings)?

I have tried a few negative films recently (Reala, Portra 160VC) and given up. Slides seem easier to get decent colour from.

Thanks
Joachim

I used to shoot quite a lot of 400H when it was called NPH. I like it for people, but I consider it a bit flat for an all-around film, particularly for landscapes. That said, I've never found a 400 neg film that delivered good, vibrant colours without being over-saturated or too contrasty (400VC being a possible exception). I ended up using NPZ (ProZ), shot at around 500.

Here are some NPH samples:

Thanks! I almost always slightly overexpose my colour neg film. These were shot at 320, most likely. I have to admit, the scans aren't great and don't do justice to the quality of the film. In the hands of a good darkroom printer they would show a much higher dynamic range.

Some excellent shots, there, gents! Here are three from a Caribbean trip last year; not all landscapes, but outdoors with color. Used the Contax G2 (28, 35, 45mm in that order). Fuji NPH400 (now 400H) is a favorite all-purpose film, and I like the 160S and 800Z equally well; they all have fine color and are unusually good with mixed lighting types.
