Camera seems good and useful. Does anyone have info about the shutter lag time?

The shutter lag is almost non-existent. Between my D300 and the G1, I can get very similar response. Between the G1 and the Canon G9, the G1 simply smokes it. I claim no great expertise with the M6, but I am seeing little difference there either.
The shot to shot times have been greatly improved by turning off the image review.
For the way that I shoot, both shutter lag, and shot to shot for MOST of my photos is just fine. On the other hand, the G1 is not a sports shooter. I have not had a chance to get the M mount lenses on it in a street shooting situation where hyper-focal and minimal shutter lag allow one to capture that critical moment. Neither have I seen a great deal of street shooting examples where these features really matter. There are some out there, but just not a ton of them.

Dave-Thanks for your so your reply. I also have a D300 so what you write meaningful for me. Next step would be to find a G1 and see for myself.

Not sure I agreed with the assessment. I used d300 g1 with kit lens and m lens. The shutter lag is worse than even my d-cam. I turn off everything and test people crossing street and I have given up hope. Surprise hence for the assessment.
Shutter lag with the autofocus lens is longer...prefocus the lens to reduce it substantially, and turn off review. It is not in the D300 ballpark but it is similar to other cameras in the price category.
When using an adapted lens (manual focus) shutter lag is quite good. I use a manual focus lens nearly all the time.

I haven't used the camera, but if it's like most, you also have to 'wake up' the meter system (even if using manual exposure) by pressing the shutter halfway down a few seconds before you're going to shoot if you want the shortest shutter lag.

Dear all;
Just to clarify what I meant by shutter lag .....
Pre-focused, ready to go, that is the point from 1/2 press and green light on ward .... as seen in the link posted above, this is 0.077 seconds, this is a tiny number, to get this response, I set things in full manual, essentially no metering, and no autofocus time. This is the way that I use the d300 as a street shooter, the press is almost instant on the D300 and the G1, and the M6 does not seem any faster.
The issue with this shooting method is that this is not going to give you optimal shots at all times. It gives acceptable sharpness at 8X10 assuming you get the exposre right before you shoot.
I have not tried people crossing the steet with the G1 in the above configuration, but I feel it would work just fine.
My comments about the G1 not being a sport shooter highligt the issues about shutter lag .... often times, reviewers and such clearly define what the mean, ie ... shutter lag is really metter/af/shoot, and the review above clearly says thats the G1 is about 4 times as slow as this feature as the above .077 one .....
I went out to the site and I could not find the same table for the D300.
So, I would say it all depends what you measureing ... I'll stand by what I said, set up as a street shooter in full M ... ( much like a M4 for example ), the G1 will do just fine. As soon as the CQ adapter is available, I can make more postivie statements.
I have used it on my quickly running kids, and the G1 is not as responsive as the D300 however, quite usable as long as the image review is off.
I have been through the D50/D80/D300, and in the quest for a more responsive and better ISO camera, I have wound up with a heavy beast. I have both the D300 and the G1 sitting on the dresser, and when I pick one up for casual shooting it is the G1. In that great middle of the photograhic bell curve, I find the G1 better suited. As soon as I start needing AF and shot to shot rate, the D300 is better. Need good subjuect isolation and a zoom ( no native fast zoom yet ) .... D300 good high ISO the D300 is a least a stop better, maybe two depending on the reviewer.
From all I have seen, I expect the CV adapter will allow the G1 to repalce the D300 and 28mm AIS as my street shooter. That was the role the G9 was to have taken, and it was simply not responsive enough for that.

For reference, here are the D300 numbers.
If one tries to use an M6 for street shooting by metering each shot, and focusing each shot, it's going to be slow. Same thing with the G1...the best way is to prefocus and pre-meter. If the cameras are used in a similar way, shutter lag isn't really an issue.
