Here's the story: Had a roll of Ilford HP5+ in Yashica Electro 35, and the same in Zorki 4 with J8. And took a 20 min. drive in a small town near my city. Shot away both cameras, came home and developed them together (I have a tank that takes two 35mm rolls), 13 minutes in Rodinal 1+50, and than I cut them in 6 neg stripes(as my scanner takes 2 stripes of 6 negs)...aaand of course, i mixed them together without thinking. And as I shot both cameras, I really do not remember what I shot with which one..:rolleyes::bang:

So: Same lighting conditions, same environment, same film, developed in the same dillution, together...very different cameras and lenses..no visible difference in sharpness, contrast or whatever.

Here are two of the pics, both are No. 11 neg, so I'm sure one is from Yashica, and other is from Z4..but which is which??

Hard to tell from these two nice images!

Both lenses are excellent, so it is unlikely that you'll find a significant difference by looking at the images, especially if you shot both at the same speed and aperture. Maybe you could find a difference in the feel of OOF areas, but I doubt it.

You might want to look for clues in frame separation, if you have known negatives from each camera. Or maybe some tiny departure from the rectangle in the frames, or other telltale signs on the forensic side. .

In any case, if the quality is so similar, maybe it does not matter after all?

Thanks guys. As it was a fairly bright cloudy day, with 400 asa, the shots are mostly f8-f11. And for me it really does not matter, I just never compared the quality before, and I was surprised that there is no major difference. Maybe with a slower film and the lens open wide..as julio 1 fer mentioned...and maybe with color film, the difference would be visible.
