How many M8 users on this forum have the 50mm Nokton, and what are you impressions concerning image quality and lens quality and how this lens compares to Leica 50mm Lenses? IT seems this is a good buy.

Of my 7 lenses, the 50/1.5 & cvLTM25 spend 90% of the time on the camera. The 50 because I shoot a lot of individual people and it renders really nice. The 25 because it's scale focus with detents at 1, 1.5, 3meters, perfect for me just walking around.
[cv75/2.5, c50/0.95, cv40/1.4, cv28/3.5, cv15/4.5 & pinhole]
Can't comment on it related to Leica lenses, but I shoot mostly people over 25 so realistically too much lens is more of a problem
f1.5 for people, f4 for lots of sharpness.

I have one - but I hardly use it.

A very nice combination for portrait work. It also gives a good balance in weight, much better than it is used on CV bodies.
And I believe you wouldn't be disappointed in terms of picture quality.

Nokton 50 mm f1.5
Nokton 50 mm f1.5
It's one og my favourites in terms of performance. I use it all the time for available light portraits and candids. It's quite big though and the build quality falls somewhat short of Leica's standard. But, for the price, it can't be beat.
I wouldn't part with it. And I'm looking forward to trying it out as a 100 mm f1.5 on my G1 (when I finally get my hands on an adapter).

Could not bring myself to get one, it is just to harsh to my eyes for portraits. (I shoot family and friends, so this is important).

The answer is incredibly subjective. I've just got rid of both a 50/1.2 Canon and a 50/1.5 Nokton because I hardly ever used either any more; I much prefer the 50/1.5 C-Sonnar and my wife much prefers the 50/2.5 Summarit.
Objectively the Nokton is a better lens than the Sonnar (resolution, illumination, focus shift) but I prefer the signature, size and handling of the Sonnar, especially on the M8/M8.2.
Build quality is fine but obviously not up to Leica standards.
Cheers,
Roger

I've used a 50 Nokton professionally for about five years and it has been excellent on the R-D1 and M8. It is an outstanding lens for the money and its OOF rendering is, to my eye, quite beautiful. I think it is one of the best lenses CV has made yet.
Cheers,
Sean

I really enjoy my 50 1.5. I find it incredibly sharp and has a nice feel to it.

I'm glad to have this lens in my kit - it worked very well for concert shooting on the live stage.

I picked one up a few years back. From the start, I liked the lens when using it with a M6 ttl or a IIIf. Very sharp, excellent contrast, and great colour rendition. However, it didn't get as much use as my Elmar-m F2.8. And depending on the amount of room in my camera bag, the Nokton was left at home. I had thoughts of selling it and putting the money toward another lens.
However, since purchasing a M8, I really started to enjoy the quality of the Nokton. It always get priority for space in the camera bag. Now, I rarely use the Elmar-M with the M8.
As for portraiture. Yes, a great lens. But, like many have pointed out, it gives extra contrast. Sometimes, it works in your favour.
Now ask me if I'd sell it. Not a chance...

I can't compare it to Leica because I have none. But the 50 Nokton satisfies the hell out of me every time I use it.
Sounds like you're waaaaay too satisfied. Come join the Dahk Zide. You can borrow my Summilux anytime I'm around.
