Bring back random gallery photos?

I am delighted by the fast new server here on RFF, but I want to weigh in on the new way the gallery selections are displayed on the home page of the forums. Before the changeover, we'd get four random selections from the gallery; now, we get the four most recent photos. Nothing wrong with this, especially when one's new photos get so many views. But already I miss the random selections. Displaying them brought new life to old pictures, and guaranteed a little stylistic variety. I'd like to request that we return to the old way.

a return to the random pics is not going to happen. The problem is that it slows the site down way too much.
