Olympus XA: Good enough for slides?

You want to know if the meter on a 20+ year old camera is accurate enough for slide film? Sounds like something you should check out for your individual camera. Put some film in it, shoot the roll, and see what you get. Reviews from the time the XA was produced say it properly exposed slide film, so it appears it was capable of doing so in its day.

Yes, it is. The meter is remarkably able. But like Burnin' says test your camera out. That's 99.99% of the fun.

I'll try it!
Chris, what light falloff are you speaking of?
Now, for people photos, 100 speed velvia [ultra saturated] or 200 speed less saturated Rollei film?

I've shot several rolls through mine.

Here's an example:

Testing the camera is definitely a necessity beforehand though. It's center-weighted, which could be an issue. Mine tends to underexpose a tiny bit, which I actually like for slides.

Slide film is the best way to know if your camera is exposing correctly. Shooting print (negative) film, a camera could be off up to 2 stops either way and that over / underexposure will be compensated for by the machine that makes the prints. Slide film will be dark or light. Also, with the XA, expect to see more pronounced vignetting in the corners. John, www.zuiko.com
