very little processing and i left the image in colour.

i like the colour that comes out of this camera. it seems warm and rich.

and it's hard not to like the zeiss 35/2.8 lens.

so maybe the rd1s is not considered the perfect camera by all but i am thinking that it's very close for me.
the ease of digital and the comfortable feel of a rangefinder.
i like the panasonic g1 for the sheer fun of it but the rd1s has the seriousness of what i'm used to in my hand and it feels ready to help create some serious photos.

Very nice skin tones in the last pictures.
The auto white balance do give weird results sometimes. I find the RAW files to be lower in color temperature.
Cheers,

I'm impressed by the RD1 photos.
Do you have any similar with the G1 for informal comparison?

I really hope the R-D1x causes R-D1 and R-D1s prices to drop. I want one now.

sienarot: Sure, a new camera could well lead to prices of previous models falling. But I'm a bit traditional and rather wary of a technology that's 'out of date' only months after I buy into it. I'd much prefer a well thought out product with a long production run.
Tuolumme: backalley's photos are in post #1.

the need for speed
i know everybody raves about Leica lenses (which i own and adore), but there is something about the combination of the R-D1 that makes me want to use the colour much more. it just works!

Joe, these are very nice. I especially like the first one, tho it could use some burning in of the two hot spots. There's something warm and casual about that shot.
Now I am jonesing for an R-D1. Dammit ...

I always liked the color of the RD-1 - reminded me of Kodachrome - a bit (with better skin tones, of course)!
