Here are a few photos from a roll of film taken with the Zeiss Planar 45mm 2.0 converted from G1 mount to M mount.
Here are clickable images for larger sizes.

The lens is a great lens.
We were taking out our neighbor for a Saturday beach drive with the kids. This was a stop at a bakery close to Navarre Beach. It was the first day of having the Pensacola Beach to Navarre Beach road opened since Hurricane Ivan.

Whoa! That is a great lens, Raid! The colors pop of the page. Sell all the others and keep that one.
Raid I especially like your first one, the red popping up in three places, the heads turned opposite... But I'd crop some off the top I think to give it better balance. It's a wonderful lens.

Thanks, Steve.
The lens was a loaner from Dirk, and I had the chance to buy it, but I did not. I see that such a lens would be good to have for portraits. I have the same lens in G1 mount though.

Hi Doug,
I at first stated out with the top cropped, just as you said, but then I kept the exra red area for added [color] impact. I will try out what you said.
I now have uploaded to the RFF gallery a cropped image. It looks better!
Thanks.

Where do you have the conversion done and how much does it cost?

japanexposures.com does the conversion. Contact Dirk.
The converted lens costs about $700 shipped.
If you mail them your G1 lens you don't save much.
I just tried out two lenses for a week, and I posted the results here at RFF.

That lens is pretty much the sharpest ever. I used to use it on the G1...really nice.

One converted lens costs nearly the same as getting the G1 plus the 28-45-90. I went with the G1 option.

Here is a crop, as suggested by Doug:

700$ is not that much for that kind of stuff...
Just out of interest, how is the build quality ?
(Already have too many 50's and these are not buying times but still...)

The red picture is just great, and I prefer it not cropped.
Talking about Zeiss Contax G lenses - is there such a noticable difference between them and and the compatible Zeiss M lenses?
For example, is there a big difference between the Planar 45/2 to the Planar 50/2 (other than the 5mm...)?
Anyone compared them side by side?

Hi Michael,
I was mostly distracted by the small aperture ring that was often also making me change focus at the same time.
I don't know how well the lens is made since it is made from scratch and the marketing of this lens is very recent. We need to wait a year maybe to find out more about the reliability.

I wish I could answer this question for you. Nobody was willing here to send me over a ZM lens for a comparison. Dirk [from japanexposures.com] posted a comparison that shows an edge for the converted G1 lenses.
I prefer the uncropped version for impact, but it is OK to view both versions since others may prefer the tighter crop.

The lens is quite sharp. I like the images from it.
