A really nice guy who I have infected with love of Nikon Range Finders came by about two months back with a beautiful girl friend who was packing a YashicaMat in her purse! I wish I could have had them come in to talk but one of the kids was active sick and the wife was just getting over it. I was taking care of both and did not want to pass along that (perhaps those) virus(es).

There are luck many luck men out there. Stay with one lens, one camera and be happy.

Simplethings, forgive me for hijacking your post last night. Check out some of the threads on using Eastman Double-X 5222 black & white movie film, and there's a company that sells reloads of it if winding your own doesn't appeal to you. It's ISO 250 and roughly half the price of Tri-X etc.

Al--who on earth sells pre-loaded XX?!? I bought some from a forum member, but I'm running low...I was planning on biting the bullet and loading myself, but I would happily buy pre-loaded cassettes.

On reading your thread... I decided I should wait no more and landed myself a chrome M6 classic 😀

Now I am saving for the 35 cron :bang:
 
What it all comes down to is, it's just money. I'm in the camp of "money has no intrinsic value, only what you can do with it does" but because that "what it can do" includes 2 kids these days, the gear budget is limited. My wife has been very accepting of my gear purchases, and like Brian I am expected to pass the best bits on to them. Lucky for us she has proven completely immune to the RF virus,a dn is happy for the time being with an older-model dSLR and a couple of lenses.

So to simplethings I say congratulations; enjoy what you can do with the M6/Summilux!

I think you need a chrome version, of an "M" style camera, so you can accessorize your outfits; like a nice little chrome M3 or MP, and just think all the lenses you purchase for your M6 will work nicely on any other M camera.

I split an order of pre-loaded 5222 with a photographer in Vero Beach, FL about 125km north of here. He placed the order. I'll see if I can find his Email. In the meantime maybe this'll work: HEY SUBHASH!!! Where's that place that sells preloaded cassettes of Double-X 5222? Thanks, Al
