Is anyone familiar with the NPC 195? It's a development of the Polaroid 195 that takes modern (including Fuji) film packs. I have one, mint, boxed, with ever-ready case (!) that's only had a few films through it since new, and I really ought to get rid of it as I never use it any more. Any ideas on what it's worth?

It's been discontinued, and it's a cult camera. My SLR690 "mint in the box" went for over $700 on Ebay about 2 years ago: I paid $140 for it NEW.

Original (1976) Model 195's are going in the $300~$400 range at KEH. Model 180's from the 60s are going for almost as much, but have the Zeiss finder. And yours will take Fuji Film without issue unlike the older Polaroids. $750 seems "reasonable", but you never know what it could fetch on Ebay.
 
Brian,I think you did brilliantly to get so much for your 690,but Roger what you have is something rather special,Id take some serious advice before selling it.
 
I think I'd agree with Brian on the price for the NPC195. I've been fantasizing about that camera for some time; it seems over-the-top, but reportedly the fit and finish is just great.

I have a 114 Tominon in a copal0 I've been meaning to graft on to a Polaroid 250, effectively making a "Frankenstein" version of the original 195; it's cheaper than buying one. But NPC had something special with their conversion.

Still usable with Fuji instant film, too. Try it again, Roger; you might not want to part with it. Something about the "artifact" nature of a Polaroid keeps me in the game.

I also have intrest in video cameras and knows alot about them but i never chance to explore to much about them as i want.
 
I've got one of these NPC things. On a whim, I bought it new from B&H for about £400 about four years ago or so. I don't think they are worth all that much but I might be wrong. It's an interesting but flawed concept - particularly now that you cannot buy the Polaroid black and white film where you could fix the negative and make prints from it. The Polaroid/Fuji positives you get from pack film are not really large enough as art prints so the NPC has rather limited utility IMO. The other issue is that the lens is too much of a wide angle for (non-environmental) portrait work where this camera would be a fun tool.

Still, I've got the camera - I might as well use it (and this thread reminds me of the Polaroid packs I have in various places going out of date).

No idea what the NPC195 sells for but I got my Polaroid 195 for $350CDN on ebay. The 195 also has a Tominon 114/3.8 lens and takes all Polaroid and Fuji FP packs films without need for adjustment. The NPC is newer and may be better built but because these are cult cameras, buyers also tend to know that there isn't much difference between it and a NPC195.
