Tourist buying film in San Francisco

I'm coming to California in a month's time for a holiday and as the starting point is San Francisco can any forum members from that fine city recommend places to buy film for my trip so I don't have to bring it over with me.

I'd like somewhere easy to find for a new visitor to the city, so centrally located places please.

I'd like to get 35mm FP4+ and PanF+ if available (or Fuji if not). I'll bring my own Kodachrome so I can post it for processing on my return to the UK.

What should I expect to pay per film (probably buying about 20 rolls).

There's two places off the top of my head to buy film in San Francisco.

Shouldn't be any problems getting ahold of FP4 and PanF. Prices should be similar at both stores. Around $5-6 USD for 35mm Ilford.

JustFilm is convenient to nowhere, but Volker will actually deliver.

Dear Austerby,

I find it best nowadays to bring my own film; 20 rolls in carry-on will not take much room. And you can leave your film worries at home and be self-reliant from minute one in SF ...

But it surely is fun to visit another camera store here or there, is it not.

And, no, the film won't take up that much space in the grand scheme of things, but this gives me some alternatives too

It's a good excuse to wander around and explore the city. All of those shops (except Just Film) are in interesting parts of town.

And, if you do visit the East bay, Berkeley, (across the oakland bay bridge), Looking Glass Photo is along telegraph street and oregon, 2 blocks north of Ashby's bart (train station). They carry a large variety of b/w, colour, e6. That and you'll have a chance to see real live hippis (probably in their 60s) hangin around outside the shop.

I buy my film at Photographer's Supply -- 436 Bryant -- 415 495-8640 --
South of Market, across the street from South Park -- which has several nice places to eat -- assuming you want to combine appetites.
