I've searched through this forum extensively looking for instructions on adjusting the vertical rf alignment on my R4M with no luck. Is it the same adjustment as the R3x?
The camera's warranty is expired, so I took off the hotshoe plate and tried adjusting the flat screw inside. It appeared to be the only adjustable screw without removing the top cover. Nothing happened after turning it a least one full rotation counter-clockwise. The vertical alignment is not off by much, but after my wife looked at it, she said, "yeah, you won't let that go."
I need help.

vertical misalignment on R4M
vertical misalignment on R4M
Also, it is not my eye position. What is the standard screw in the gap under the hotshoe plate if not for vertical alignment?
It is not off enough that I can't live with it if it needs to be sent in for repair. Anyone have suggestions?

I had the same problem...
I had the same problem...
but it was an R4A that I purchased as an open box item from B&H. It was more than just a little off vertically. So I tried adjusting it as well but that didn't seem to do anything even if I turned the screw a lot.
I ended up returning it since it was new (to me) and bought a new R3A from cameraquest. This one is ever so slightly off vertically but not enough to bother me.
Attached is a document about RF adjusting that a member sent me. Hope it helps. Good luck!
EDIT: attaching didn't work. PM me your email and I'll send it along.

Has anyone tried these instructions? I did once on my R3A and it worked. Not sure if the same applies to the R4 or not...

Carlito,
PM sent. thanks.
JFH,
that is the site I found and tried using those instructions. nothing happened.
I'm wondering if that screw on the R4M is actually for vertical alignment.
