12mm Heliar in Quebec

Well, I took my M6 and the small 12mm Heliar to a "canot-camping" expedition. Three days in "le parc de la Mauricie". The weather wasn't good, but it was fun nonetheless! I used Portra 800 and Portra 160 NC.

Very cool! Makes me want to get off my butt and go hiking right now! I love the lakeshore photo. The beaver lodge is pretty fun too. You definitely used that lens well.
 
I enjoyed your photos..I have a 12m and was interested to know which of the click stops you used of focal choice and also what F stop these are shot at. That is to say are these ll shot at F22 ?? or F8. As the water looks we captured so shutter speed was not extra slow. All the Best...Laurance

I was between f8 and f16 at 1/250 or 1/500. Except #5 and #9, these were shot wide open at 1/60.

Thanks for "bringing me back" to la parc de la Mauricie. You have some nice shots in here. I especially enjoyed photo #5. Was that a portage?

It was a small trail to get to the point of view (#8). It was in the middle of the portage between lake Anticagamac and lake Waber. We did 9.5 km de portage in the 3 days.

Yikes! That sounds more like you went hiking with a canoe on your back. When I was there, we camped out at Lac Dauphinais and day tripped to Lac des Cinq. If I remember correctly, the small portage between those two lakes is to by pass a little class II whitewater which is fun to run.

I also meant to say that the upside of the long portages is that it leaves the crowds behind.

I must say you are making me rethink the 12mm lens! I've always assumed it was useful only for "over-the-top" shots, but your images are very pleasing. Thank you for sharing.
 
Very Nice Images!! Composed nicely avoiding distortion and it appears the weather helped eliminate the possibility and problem with flare.
