Don't know about a hood- this lens makes Flare Look Good!

At F4, the colors really start to saturate.

At F2, they are more like water color.

This is a 1935 lens, looks original to The Leica IIIa used for these photo's. I cleaned some light haze out of the inner elements, and a very thick haze from the front element. Some fine scratches on the front element, but nothing too bad. Great camera and lens for $15. "Antique Store rescue". Does not look like it had been used in a long time.

Here is my Summar from 45 years ago with I think KodaChrome25, but it could have been X. I sold it about then because it was old and passe'. Boy was I wrong. And they say Film is dead:

Yeah, I`ll take a IIIa and lens for $15 😉

I`ve gotten lucky with old Leica`s, but never that cheaply.....this is really beautiful results, reminds me of the floral work I shot 20 years ago with a 1939 IIIa and matching Summitar....... those pre 1946 uncoated lenses certainly are the match for shooting in color films

I can`t wait till I get a chance to shoot some new color photos with my uncoated Xenon f1.5 soon.....

My 1937 Summar has a pretty scratched front element, but I've always been impressed with it taking both colour and B&W. Two shots below taken with it. The first is wide open at about 1/15s, the second stopped down to about f9:

Having just bought one for the bay, incredibly happy with this lens, delicate contrast and great colours, bokehs lovely to. (mine seems to be a 1937, so id assume uncoated?)

A Summar was my first Leica lens. It's a 1936 one and in pretty good condition. I keep it on my IIIf all the time. I guess I should get a hood for it.

Yes, you should! Fortunately they are not hard to come up with, as they can use the same hood as the 3.5 Elmar. Now I need to take my own advice and get one for my Summarit f/1.5.

Finally got around to processing some colour shots - my grandson in the garden. First shot is the Summar on M6, followed for comparison by one with my 50mm Summilux (1st version).

Given the level of haze in the Summar, I'm very impressed 😀

I've been using Summitar / Summicron "barn-door" + 36mm clamp-on to E-39 filter adapter ring with my Summars.

Would love to find a black/nickel FIKUS....
