I have the following problem:
in low light when lens is wide open shutter speed will not go under 1 sec (even in full darkness). When the lens is closed (F8 - F16) the slowest shutter speeds work (1 sec. to 1 min.).
Can it be some capacitor that won't let the shutter stay open when the lens is wide open?
In normal light conditions speeds sound accurate compared to a tested camera. I am going to run a test roll to see if speeds above 1 sec are OK.

Yeah, I still use film...
In my experience that sounds pretty normal. All of my Electro's have acted in a similar manner. I would guess that it was designed that way as you would be using f1.8 to shoot handheld in available light and would not need or want an exceptionally long shutter speed. When you stop down to get some depth of field, they figured that you would be using a tripod in that situation and allowed the shutter to stay open longer. I'm just speculating, but it sounds logical... right??

That's probably right.
I wonder if there's a filter that would allow shooting with lens wide open in the sunlight at 1/500 speed?

That's really me
Don't the Electros go down to 30 second exposures?
100 ISO can shoot just fine in regular daylight. EV15 give or take, that comes out to about 1/500 at f8.

When shutter speeds are lower than 1sec you must keep the shutter release down until the proper speed is finished. In other words. If the camera determines that the speed should be 10secs the release must be down at least 10 secs. Try it with this method and see if it works. It should if not then your guess is as good as mine. It should work Obviously for really long (up to 30secs in AE) a cable release is mandatory.

Shutter closes after 1 sec.
Shutter closes after 1 sec.
even if the release button is pressed all the time.

Works great!
Works great!
In the normal lighting conditions exposure is perfect! This Electro 35 GSN will replace my QL-17 that I consider an AK-47 of automatic raпgefinders. QL17 is just not sharp enough.
Here's what the quality is like at F11 (pass the "sweet point" of F4-5.6)

Thanks everybody!

That's odd
That's odd
Mine will go to ~30 seconds stopped down, ISO 25, and covering meter opening, but I do have to keep the shutter pressed.
I think mine just closes the shutter when you let your finger up on a longer exposure.

My 35G had this issue. I removed bottom cover and adjusted rod under release button. Now it keeps shutter open without help of my finger.
