yes finally I won a bid for this lens, plus a canon P body
The price for this lens is around 450$ as I have been following for last 3-months and now I have it lower than this price plus a body
I think it is a good deal, what do you think?

It's a good price- but it is a good deal depending on the condition of the internal elements of the lens. The oil can spill over to the surface behind the aperture. Check it carefully.

I'd say that's a pretty good deal overall, even if you have to do a CLA. And those lenses are pretty easy to open up to clean.
Nice find.

Congrats, good deal with the "Bauhaus Leica"
For others, if interested: Adorama has a black 50/1.2 in "E" condition for US 399.
Cheers,
Roland.

Congratulations!, you have obviously been thinking about one for some time, and I hope it lives up to your expectations!. As you have probably seen, lots of people here regard them highly, maybe I had a bad example, and unfortunately did'nt become one of them!. It would be interesting to hear your findings! - please post some samples, when available?
Cheers, Dave

Congrats on the new purchase! It's a fine set. The body usually goes for about US$200 to US$300 alone these days, and about US$100 to US$120 for the meter. A minty and good looking case should not be that cheap either.
Addiction to RF? Hanging out here is certainly not going to help. However, it's nice to know that you're not alone. I too, might have a few more cameras or lenses than I can manage as well.
Cheers,

The Leica salesman at Central Camera just showed me his Canon 7 with the 50 1.2 on it. He wants to sell it and told me to name a price and he will throw in the camera body. I didn't know how much to suggest so I came back to my hotel and started researching. I just bought a Leica 35 Summarit so I can't buy it. If you're looking he has it in the store and it looks brand new, camera and lens.

This is a $700 deal at below $450 cost. The leather case in this condition costs $50. The lens looks to be very clean.

The best camera is one that still works!
I think you got a pretty good deal and provided you have reasonable expectations of the lens you'll likely enjoy it.
I'm a bit like Dave Wilkinson ... it hasn't quite lived up to the hype for me but I won't be selling mine soon as I think with all ultra fast glass you have to learn to live with the quirks wide open and go with them! A hood is a good idea as they are a little flare prone IMO.
edit ... I meant to add, the genuine hood is a thing of beauty if you can get one at a reasonable price. It allows near unobstructed vision in the viewfinder!

Peter Kitchingman says that there is a rare mostly black 50/1.2 lens. The aperture ring and infinity lock is black, unlike the chrome typically seen on this lens. He says that the black lenses were delivered on the black paint V series cameras.

Watch that step!
Congrats!
Now, sell all your old camera bodies, buy a "minty" M6 Classic 0.85 and mount it on there, it`s the "Japanese Noctilux" aka "The Noctilux Killer", it`s really one of my favorite lenses!
That`s why........
Enjoy your new lens
Happy Shooting!
Tom
PS: That all Black f1.2 is pretty rare, I`ve only seen one in the past 5 years on a all black Canon 7.

Leica Tom! Thanks I already have M6 but 0.72 ...it is ok for me...I am very happy now...As you say I will sell Canon P body definitely but for the other old bodies I need to enjoy them first then I can sell...
Raid, thanks very much...As you say I think the same it is around 700$ bid. I was lucky...though I am stressed a bit because of international shipments...

I've seen a couple of all black lenses on Kevin's website last year. They are gone, now.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the lens listed at Adorama as black is the normal black/chrome.
Roland.

Congrats on the purchase! I've been watching this lot too but decided it's not something I need at the moment. Remember to post some photos ;-)

I have seen a couple of the "all-black" 50/1.2 lenses. There is also a picture of one in Peter Kitchingman's book.

In addition to the "all-black" 50/1.2 lenses, Canon made "all-black" 50/1.8 and 35/1.8 lenses for their black paint cameras.

The baby has come home
The lens has little specks on the glass, very tiny, but no haze no fungus...a little cleaning marks, that is all...There is also very very little oil on the blades...
The body is in good condition except some dents on the shutter curtain...the dials are soft and easy, shutter speeds seem right...
There is only one problem, rangefinder was vertically off and I played myself and I fixed it pretty good, only a mm is off I think...
Shall I play more? I unscrew the window and turn the glass inside until it matches the views. Is that how it is done?
Is there anybody here having experience on those dents on the shutter curtain? Does it affect the performance? I already put a roll (ilford Panf + 50iso) to give it a try...
By the way I realized that my summitar and serenar would not fit to canon P although they are all LTM. The lenght of those lenses going inside too deep so it hits and scratches the inside of the camera... :bang: Anybody else tried that?

Nice little rig there ~ you will LOVE the f1.2 I do
The camera is <EP> Exchange Post, is the lens as well????
Shutter curtain dents are only bad if they cap your shutter speeds......and there`s NOTHING you can do about them, just leave them be, trying to flatten them or any tampering with them will make them worse!!!!
I say, if you want to have it CLA`D (camera and lens) , save some $$$$ and then send it to Don Goldberg at DAG, he`ll work it out and all over like new
