Oleg is not responding at all

I had the same problem w/ Oleg. Turned out he was out of the country. Despite all the people that have had good results from him I won't buy from him again. The camera I bought originally from him was supposed to have had a CLA, but the first roll of film showed pinholes all in the shutter. I sent it back. No replies to emails (see above). Two months later it shows up. He threw a J8 lens, which was nice. Unfortunately, the newly repaired camera now still had a few pinholes in the shutter and it was capping half of the image off on about half the frames.

I recommend Mark Hansen at www.ikonrollieflexrepair.com. Very prompt replies to emails, he's in the U.S. (Portland I think), and the CLA'd Leica IIf I bought from him a while back was a great camera that exposed perfectly. He's more than a camera tech, he honestly loves and appreciates the quality cameras of the past.
 
I sent Oleg three FSUs before easter, and received an email from him April 27th - but I didn't notice it until I looked in my spam-folder, looks like my spam-filter doesn't like mails from Russia... I've put Oleg on my "white-list" now :). Maybe an overeager spam filter could be an explaination for other folks, too?

Anyways, he informed me he would be away and unable to respond to emails from April 29th till May 3rd.
 
This worries me further. Oleg did respond to the order from a_aa a few days ago but none of my emails over the past 3 weeks.

This is even worse than I thought. He has been around to take new orders but he does not want to take care of the defective goods that he sold.
 
Two months back I had a FED5 and a Zorki-4K serviced by Oleg (and paid of course). He sent a mail that they were on their way, but to this day they have not arrived :(

He gave me tracking number for the Russian post, but the number didn't work (wrong syntax). I mailed him last week but alas, no response.

Edit: And what do you know, I just got mail from him. The saga continues... It would be nice to see if he answers his whole backlog now...

Now another week has gone, making it 4 weeks without response....

I know that some more patience is suggested.
However, if I could have known actually it needs that much patience, I would not have placed the order.
 
I emailed Oleg 2.5.09 to order some parts and got the answer on 4.5.09 - to me he seems to respond very fast.

Good to know he's responding to emails. Any updates from the OP?

I bought a Kiev 4a from him a few months ago, it had a lot of light leaks. He said a replacement body would be sent to replace it. Been a few weeks with nothing showing up. I didn't really expect a replacement to be sent, though at this point if it did show it I'd be pleasantly surprised.
 
So, parts orderd from Oleg 4.5.0, payment the same day, shipped on May 7th and received on May 22.

Sorry for the issue with the Kiev 4a. did you got any explanation from Oleg?

Unfortunately, no. My problem got no response over the past 8 weeks.
Looks like Oleg is responding to new orders but ignoring the problems after sales.

Seems like my bad luck is not the only unfortunate case with him.
 
Is it possible that your ISP is blocking email from Oleg's ISP ... or vice-versa? I've had this problem with several ISPs.
 
Mine is Gmail. Should not be the problem since I have used it to exchange several emails with Oleg before the order was placed.
 
Does this mean we should look somewhere else for FSU gear? He has a good reputation so maybe there is something going on with him that we are not aware of ... does he have a phone? can you call and ask him what the hell is going on?
 
I am afraid that the problem is not something going on with him, as he still repsonds to new orders (as shared by other folks here) over the past 8 weeks. However, the ones having problems after purchasing have not heard a word from him.

I do not have his phone number. Does anyone here have it?

Oleg said he did not speak English well; I spoke a little bit of Russian so I asked him for his phone number. I have a mobile phone number from 2 years ago which I have not tried: I didn't end up calling him, so I cannot tell you if it worked, or if it still works.

I have purchased a Fed 2, a Zorki 1 and a Kiev 4 from Oleg and they all worked for me. I have plans to buy more from him. So I hope you can sort things out with him. Please let us know how you go.

Just to reinforce the above,I have never found that Oleg will fail to respond and react to an after sales problem.Was the meter on your purchase described as fully working?In my brief experience Kiev selenium meters are usually dead,and unlikely to be accurate even if they have some life.I hope that you are stillusing the camera and enjoying anyway.

Its seem this guy is not as realiable as some seem to think.
In the classifieds there is a Zorki for sale that was sold to a member by Oleg that has light leaks.
The seller states that Oleg is (Not interested in after sales problems)

Is this good way to do buisness Oleg!
