A Small Digi That Is Changing My Photographic Life

I really like the colors/quality of these photos. Are they pretty much what you get out of this camera or particularly good examples (color wise)?

Also is the camera fast or does it have the typical P&S shutter/focus lag?

Sorry for the delay, just noticed your question. The answer is - pretty much all the Kodak products have this kind of color - they're sort of known for it. But it is not fast. This model is helped some by the fact that it has no optical or digital zoom, and only one f-stop. So it doesn't have to work too hard to focus. It's not too bad for the first shot. Shot to shot is very slow. I have to work with the limitations of the camera.

Let me cast a vote for lithiums... my A590IS has been running on the same set for almost two months now.

Note - I do keep the LCD turned off, other than for viewing, but I do do (do do?) my initial editing in-camera.

You shouldn't use ordinary alkaline cells in a camera. Use NiMH rechargeables, or lithiums. I think it may have something to do with a voltage drop off, but no digital camera I've ever owned has ever been able to get more than an hour out of an ordinary non rechargeable battery. The batteries themselves tend to be fine for other purposes even after the camera stops working.
