GTN shutter stays open at f16

My so far faultless GTN has a problem.

On a recent trip I noticed that whenever I set the aperture to f16 the shutter would stay open when I took a shot. The shutter would only close when turning the ring to f11.

At all other apertures it works fine and the exposure is spot on every time.

Any ideas?

I have seen something like this when my battery gets low. Try a fresh one and see what happens.

I concur with gradskater - weak battery.
my gtn exhibits exactly this symptom when she needs feeding.

Well, there's the strange thing... I've just replaced the battery! Perhaps I got a bad one, although the test light is nice and bright.

philipb - are you fixed up? how you bodge your battery can cause a problem. I packed mine with (not enough) foil. make sure that there is good pressure on the contact spring in the battery compartment.

Or maybe, there is scratch on your cabling and get shorted while using f16? It happen on mine once, you can see by taking a shot in f16, and remove the battery after that. If the shutter close again, something happen on electricity side of the camera. Or else, some dirt mechanism

Yashica Guy's adapter works all the time. Would recommend that.

The GTN is definitely sick. I tried the battery including adapter in my GSN and everything works as expected. The GTN has got worse since my first post and now the under/over lights don't work and it fires on 1/500 at every aperture.

I think I've got some rotten wiring so it needs to come apart.
