My one year project

Anyone else still doing this type of project? What lens selection and/or considerations were made?

I should use a different camera and lens combination every week for one year.

Some of them have not seen film for a while. I just used a DSLR today for a pool party. It's been more than two years since its been outside. Put a lens on it that has not been used for 10 years, a Nikkor 36~72 F3.5, worked well on the D1.

So what exactly is your "project"? What are your aims? What will you get out of it?

Brian: great idea, probably good to use the old slrs once in a while. I should cycle mine a bit, or have the kids do it.

Like Micky D I'm having trouble understanding the 'project' concept of what you want to do in spite of reading your blog ... to me it just seem like you're placing an equipment restriction on yourself!

I could never do this sort of thing ... every now and then I have to drag the Crown Graphic out of the cupboard or run a roll through an old folder or irritate myself with an FSU portable light leaking device.

I don't see the M8 and M6 with stated lenses as a particularly exciting choice personally ... I guess I'm just hard to please! 😛

Well you must surely "comprehend" what it is that you're doing.
You are announcing it to us all here in the philosophy section.

Maybe you just want to let everyone know what gear you are shooting?
Where's the philosophy in that?

i think you should also restrict yourself to only photographing your cat for the next year with your two cameras and two lenses... 🙂

I read the June 14th entry of your blog where you announce the project, but it really doesn't explain the project. Although it sounds cool on the surface, but for a whole year? You mentioned kids in another post, as much as I like film and as much as I document my kids' experiences, I can't imagine doing it only with film. ...in a lot of cases, grabbing the dslr is the way to go.

I am also attempting this project. Ive been doing it for a few months now already. I wanted to officially start on July 1st, yet I am still working on getting two new lenses for this project. As of now Its the M8 and M6, with a 28 and 50 combo. 28 on the M8 and 50 on the M6.

I find that shooting different mediums beings to get overwhelming at times. So I want to dedicate myself to this project of limiting the gear I use, and focus on creating images, rather than which camera shall I use today.

I'm thinking of going retro and using my Polaroid 210 Land Camera and Pack Film for a year.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I don't have the attention span to last a year, but a couple months would be cool. At least until I get tired of carrying around a plastic bag full of spent peel-apart paper and chemicals...
