Fellow M6 owners....I want to get the Artisan & Artist Silk cord strap....but CANT decide which color....Red or Black....please help!!!

Is the Artisan & Artist Silk cord strap limited to use on the M6 only? i find it works just fine on my Mamiya 7II and Rolleiflex in black, and only to wrap around my wrist. I don't like straps around my neck.

Wrist straps shouldn't be used on M6 as it can unscrew and drop your cam on the floor anyway. I would avoid that

I have the short Artisan and Artist silk strap meant for the 'blad. With a metal O-ring I attach both ends to the right strap lug. I insert the loop in my right hand. The loop is just the right size for my hands.

You could also get a length of braided climber's rope and make your own. You should be able to make about fifty for the same cost, so you can have one in every climbing rope colour.
But seriously, I love the red, but if it was my camera I'd probably go for the black. No...the red...no..black. This isn't helping is it?
You might also like to check out the great range of Luxecase straps from Korea. I have a couple, Very well made, smell wonderful and they are fast/easy to buy from via email/Paypal.

yeah, me too...I ordered the m3 stlye strap and I was dissapointed because of its length...and yes, I know the length is clearly stated in the description of the strap on their website, I just didn't measure the length and I was to busy thinking how cool it was going to look on my new m3....well, I have had it for 7 months and I like the way it looks but 900mm is to short for me...I also recently bought the A&A red cloth adjustable strap and I now have the thing as long as it can go, and I am happy with it......I saw the A&A silk cord strap out here at a store in Bangkok and the guy had 2 different models..he had the one piece one that you see on the website, but he also had a couple that were detachable (sort of like the domke gripper)...they were the silk cord but they had these two little detachable clips on them, anyways...the A&A website does not have these advertised....and yes, they are the real thing...not copies....the guy has a bunch of A&A bags and straps.....the prices are high(er) out here, but that's expected...cheers, michael

Perfect length for me, and I have one in black (anti-panda M8) and one in red (chrome ZI). Got 'em before prices went up and still paid waayyy too much. Heck, for the price of two you can buy a lens or two, for crying out loud! But it was the best strap available to me that was ready-made, reliable, looks elegant but not overstated, and can be used both around the wrist and the neck (clincher). If only the grey blue that is available on the Hassy strap were sold in the Leica M style, I would have preferred that for my chrome ZI. But red is very very nice, too.

None. I don't like straps of any kind on a Leica M. I have several old soft leather Benser bags. Just big enough for an M, a spare roll of film and anything the size of my 75mm Heliar or smaller. The bag has a loop for your wrist and provides lots of protection. It only takes a few seconds to get the camera out and when I'm done it goes back into the safety of the bag. Might not work for a famous photojournalist in a hurry but then I'm just a lucky, relaxed amateur who mostly carries one camera/one lens. Joe

I wouldn't dare be seen in public if my strap and tie didn't match. Silk ties without a doubt knot and hang better than synthetics but the shirt collar keeps it from getting sweaty. Silk subject to sweat rots easily (and stinks!) which isn't really all that much of a problem with a tie. If it breaks your head won't fall off, but I wouldn't want my M3 making a sudden and unexpected beeline to a concrete sidewalk.
I really like Jerry Garcia neckties, which are based on his paintings. Get your old lady to pick out your strap, something that goes with the tie. If us old coots had any color sense at all we'd try to wean ourselves off the dreaded Tri-X addiction!

You've got a point there, Dave. Perhaps a return to the wide brightly patterned "guitar strap" camera straps of the 1960's? Most of my cameras sport those nylon Nikon straps that are yellow and black but I should probably wash them. It's hard to tell which stripe is the yellow one.
Strange how we thought it stylish to use brightly colored expensive straps but carried the equipment in olive drab army surplus gas mask bags we could get for $2.98. A lot of the young women used them as purses too. I'm sure that more than one photographer rushed out on a shoot only to discover that rather than a light meter, spare lens, and a bunch of film he was schlepping a couple of hair brushes and loads of make-up.
