I did it - The Super Hex!

There seems to be a few of you lucky guys owning the Hex 50/1.2 - so please do your duty - make some nice shots and post them here :D

I just bought got one of these on impulse. It's a very big lens -- a bit longer and much wider than my CV Nokton 50/1.5, and much longer and a bit wider than my Canon 50/1.2 (begs the question, I know, I know). I'll post some pictures from my R-D1, once I've got anything I'm not embarrassed to show. :)

Question: What filter do you use to protect that big, wide front element? My lens came with a B+W UV IR Cut 486 MRC slim filter. The problem is that the slim model doesn't have front screw threads, so I can't mount a hood. (I didn't get the original hood, so I got a generic 62mm screw-in hood that doesn't block the RF patch window on my R-D1.) I also have a B+W F-Pro UV 010 MRC filter, which does have front threads. However, both filters are a hair narrower than the lens barrel, so the lens cap is too loose to stay on the filter (the slim filter ring is shallow so that the cap reaches enough of the lens barrel to hold on, but the regular filter ring is too deep). What do you guys do?

Thanks,
Ari

Congrats on a lens! I use B+W F-pro filter on mine. I have original hood and it fits there well, but I dont use it much as lens is really pretty flare free. Post some pics when you got some!

A very fine looking lens, Krosya, and the pics too. A lens that has tempted me, though it is big. I have the Hexar RF Limited body but not the matching lens... Have fun!

I posted a couple of pix on Krosya's other thread. The lens is really very good -- sharp as you'd like, even wide open, with very smooth OOF areas. And, of course, really fast!

But it's a really big lens, and I'm accustomed to very small RF lenses -- even the Canon 50/1.2 is small by comparison. :)

So the jury's still out on whether I keep this or let another RFFer try his hand at it. Gotta give it some more time....

There is a 1.2/50 at my local camera shop...about 1600...seems a little high, but I guess they really are hard to find on their own..., thanks for sharing a few pics.

I had forgotten all about this thread. Bigfoot should be in the opening photo. I guess if I sold all of my duplicate lenses.....................
