Jupiter 3 internal reflections

The photo attached was taken just after a lens change outdoors on a bright day. I take vertical frames with the shutter release at the top. To me this looks like light leaking around the lower edge of the curtain(s).

Have you considered it might be the bottom plate is a bit loose. Do you use a half case? Sorry to read of your troubles.

I would assume that if it was the bottom plate the whole film would be affected. This way it's only on one single frame as far as I understand. It has to come from the front (also because of the colour - if it was from the back it would have the colour of the negative film base).

At that point I would probably ask the person who changed the shutter curtain what they suggest; maybe it was indeed a problem during reassembly.

gb hill, Philipp has explained well why the bottom plate cannot be the problem. The leak is from the front and does not go beyond the area of the negative. That is, it does not extend into the inter-frame spaces. I should have mentioned this fact earlier. Philipp, the person who changed the curtain has been asked not to communicate with me any more. I must have read half a dozen camera manuals before the man ever touched a camera.

Disgust, despair

Disgust, despair

Here is the work of what was called "a good used curtain". Moreover, the two fastest speeds gave gross under-exposure.

We humans cannot live without trusting other humans. Sometimes, though, we place our trust in the wrong people; and, as a result, we may not trust the machines on which we depend.

Instead of the M2 I had wanted for decades, I have acquired an unending damned nightmare.

While potentially enticing for any photo enthusiast who happens to walk by your window at that moment, this is almost never a good solution :)

My window is five floors up, Philipp, and Leicas are notably dense objects. I'd be delighted to have a certain person walk under it when I chuck out the piece of art. Seriously, though, I no longer feel anger when faced with cheats, charlatans and liars. I feel pity.
