Last night, as I was cleaning some lenses, I placed my CV 12 mm on my laptop for a moment. To my horror, as soon as I turned around, it rolled off and landed on the floor with a thud (it fell about 2.5 feet).
After examining the lens, I can't find even one scratch. The glass looks perfect too. But when I shake it, I can hear a rattle inside. I bought the lens just a week and a half ago, and never had any reason to pay close attention to the sound it makes when shaken. In your experience, is this sound normal, or is this something I should get looked at?

Well, mine rattles, I think from the aperture assembly, and to the best of my knowledge it has never been damaged.

Mine has a light rattle too. No worries. If focus and aperture are OK, do try the lens.
My finder front glass is broken, but it seems impossible to get a replacement part other than an new finder...

Thanks, everyone. That puts my mind at ease. I'm taking it out tonight to take some photos of the stadium at a local rugby game. I'll keep my fingers crossed...
