Is the R-D1 viewfinder available separately? If yes, how much?

A 21mm viewfinder works fine on the R-D1.

That looks great. I'll get one for myself before the end of the year!

Who stole my light?
Beautiful shots, that zeiss 15 is a real monster, like someone injected the poor old 15 with steroids and hormones... I have to say, I love what CV is doing design wise with the new lens'. The lens are designed well, they are ergononomic, look great and perform splendidly, all for a great price. If only CV would come out with a new 35mm f1.2 that didn't look so "ugly"...

Is it me or is the new 15/4.5 VM slightly larger than the old screw mount 15?

It is indeed larger and I bet it vignettes every bit as much.

It is slightly larger - but far easier to handle. The aperture ring on the old one was a bit "tight" to operate and keep your fingers away from the image area. Optical formula is the same.
Yes. it vignets - but it is a 15 mm lens and vignetting is almost unavoidable (or it would have cost 25x what this one costs and be the size of a small car!). At least, with this version you can get a 52mm center filter to compensate for edge fall-off if it bugs you.
The hood also keeps knuckles and fingers away from the image area.

Any updates on when to expect the 15-35 viewfinder and how much it'll cost?

The Voigtlander RD viewfinders (originally made for the 12, 15, 21, 25) have been discontinued and sold out at the factory for several years now. I still have a few RD 12 and 15 VF in stock at $175.

Who makes such a 52mm filter?

If nobody is doing now - somebody will be doing it soon to cater to the M8 crowd with this lens. Probably B&W or something like that. Being a film shooter all I am using is red/orange/yellow for my old Nikon SLR lenses.

I bought myself one of these during my last weekend in Hong Kong (San Francisco Camera @ Mody Rd. next to the Shangri La Hotel).
Shooting this lens is pure fun and it operates very smootly and precise.
I get my film from he lab this evening and can't sit still in anticipation of my first rolls with this lens.

I bought this lens in my last trip to Japan. It's an amazing lens for sure. I also got a 52mm filter, but you have to check if the filter is narrow, because if the filter have the normal thickness you will have problems with the fixed hood.

I was looking for a better viewfinder for this lens than my two Voigtlander finders (15mm for the M6 and GRD GV-1 21mm finder for the EPSON).
I found in the camera shops mainly 4 different finders:
Zeiss finder
Leica single focal length finder
Frankenfinder
Leica Zoom finder 21-24-28
all of them are extraordinary expensive (new about the price of a Nikon SLR prime lens).
Therefore, I am thinking about getting the Frankenfinder.
Does anyone use it with the R-D1?
Does anyone recommend an alternative finder with brightlines for the EPSON?
