Nokton 50/1.5 hood falls off

Hi,
The hood on my Nokton 50/1.5 keeps unscrewing itself when I carry my camera around. I am thinking of applying a small amount of thread locking agent. Anyone had the same problem? Maybe you found better solutions?

My solution is to just not use that hood.

To me, the hood that comes with the lens seems both to short to help much and to wide to see past. So I just use an empty 52mm filter (just the ring, after removing the filter glass), and I cover that with a normal 52mm Nikon or Canon snap-in cap. This seems to do almost as much shading, and it feels a lot smaller (even if it isn't, really).

I can also recommend the use of an empty 52mm filter ring (will also work on top of another filter, without vignetting). Avoids finder intrusion, too.

Ola, are you using a UV or other filter on the lens? It could be that the thread of the filter is too shallow to allow the thread of the hood to catch properly. I have a couple of 50f1.5's and have not had a problem with the hood - but then it is threaded into the front with no filter.

Thank you for your suggestions. No Tom, I am not using a filter. Maybe I just don´t have the tolerances on my side. The idea of using a filter ring instead seems interesting. I have also considered removing the hood and just use a uv-filter to protect the glass. With the hood it is difficult to fit my M2 in my smallest Crumpler.

I never had your particular problem w/the Nokton's hood, but a drop of the low-resistance Loctite would work fine (& is completely reversible). If possible, I always use a hood, not just for blocking flare, but for protective purposes. I never had a problem w/the Nokton's hood blocking too much of the VF (except on a Barnack-style body & where the main culprit is simply the sheer size of the lens, not the hood).

Rather try a small strip of Teflon tape. The stuff used in plumbing to seal threads. BTW this idea came from another forum member to me. It has worked well for a VF magnifier that unscrews the same. No adhesive value in any way so comes right of when you need it to.
