I had briefly used the 50/1.5 and 25/2.8 back on the MP and liked them. Now with the M8 I dont have them anymore but generally it seems any optical flaws of a design are being exaggerated with digital. (And I remember having read something similar somewhere on the Puts site...)

Whats the consensus of using Zeiss ZM lenses on the M8? And which do you consider winners in the line up?

I have a friend who uses the 50 C-Sonnar on his M8 and tinks it's a great combination. Others have raved about the 35 Biogon on the M9.

The 50 C-Sonnar is my standard 50 on the M8. The only other 50 I like as much is the Summarit. And I've had (and have) plenty of others.

Cheers,

R.

I own the 28 biogon and used the 50 planar shortly. Both worked fine on the m8.

On the website of robert white there is a pdf for downloading, with tells about using a ZM lens on the m8. btw, the pdf also tells its not possible to engrave the 6 bit code because of a screw, but my 28 has the 6bit code engraved so the m8 knows what is on.
The screw is also engraved.

For me the focal length is the biggest issue to choose a lens. I don't think the difference in quality is big enough to take a lens with the wrong focal length over another.

ZM 21 and 25 on M8

ZM 21 and 25 on M8

I use both the 21/2.8 and the 25/2.8 (with IR Cut filters, hand coded, and with modified mounts to bring up the correct framelines) on my M8. Both lenses are excellent performers.
Regards,
Bob
