Thanks for the info. I will look around for one of those. The Fujinon lenses may be unsurpassed for performance. The built and the heft of the Fuji GL/BL 690 cameras is awesome. The nickname is "Texas Leica" for this camera and for the Pentax 6x7.
The wide angle lenses are hard to come by,and they are costly [and superb]. I find the 100mm lens more than sufficient. The 6x9 format and the extremely high resolution allow a great deal of cropping.
The "modern" version of this camera costs far more. Other Fuji RF models do not allow interchanging lenses.
This is the only camera/lens that beats a Rolleiflex TLR in perceived sharpness.
A good asking price range for GL/BL + 100mm lens [not all 100mm lenses are AE] is $450-$550.

Bronica RF645s with the 65mm and 45mm seem to be going in the $800-1000 range as of late (figure about $600 +/- for the camera and 65mm bundled and maybe another $300 +/- for the 45mm and finder). They are definately not bringing as much as they were a year or two ago.

The real problem with the Makina is the camera collectors... As with all cameras that happen to become collectors items.
Can't agree more! I came across one ebay listing for a very good looking Makina. Care to guess the 'buy it now' price? 3,xxx

Well-known
I've had about 5 Plaubels in the past 10-15 years or so. Whenever I sold one, I felt awful because of the wonderful lens and surprisingly accurate metering. Of those cameras, only one had a problem and that was with the winding mechanism. It still worked, but took about 3 winds to get it to advance all the way.
Currently, I have 2 Plaubels, one is a 670 (highly recommended cuz it takes 220) and a 67w. I got the 67w for $450 because the owner said that the meter didn't work. Well, I cleaned the crusty contacts and made sure the batteries made contact and it worked just fine. I WILL NEVER SELL THESE. Take good care and be gentle with them, especially when advancing the frame, and they will last.
They are worth the money I spent on them, but I wouldn't pay $1500+ for a 67 or 670, maybe a 67w in mint condition. I would think that a 67 in ex cond. should bring about $850-$1000.
As mentioned, there are alternatives, but they aren't the same. The Mamiya 6/7 is great, I had them, but they fill a different niche and take up more room when hiking. A Rollei 2.8F or GX would be a nice substitute imho.
Just my 2 cents,
Joel
