Hi folks,
The leatherette covering on my black M6 is starting to bubble slightly near the battery chamber, which is an excuse to replace it with a covering from cameraleather. The problem is that they all look good! I'll probably go for something in black, don't want to draw attention to myself, and possibly affect resale value down the line.
Griptac seems to be popular, but I do like the smell of leather!
What have you got on yours? A few pics would be nice.
David.

Alright, it's not leather (leatherette) and it's not from cameraleather (Aki-Asahi) but I love their #4008 covering. Classic, practical, super accurate cut, looks just right.
Again, it's probably not what you were asking/looking for, but choice is good, right?

Sug,
That does look beautiful, with a lovely open and even grain pattern. Does it feel better than the original finish, with more grip etc?

Used to have CL's black lizard on one of my M6 bodies:
Nowadays I use 4008 from AA, like Sug, it's nice.

I feel much better with this compared to the original MP skin (fake shark skin-like) and the M6's I had before. It's not like griptac, more conventional look and feel, but grippy enough and it's definitely an improvement from the original covering. This one is more "3D" than the M6's original covering. I'm getting one for my M2 as well.

I forgot to mention, I have the M-grip, with its fake plastic leatherette finish. The AA 4008 would look similar to that, and its great value for money at $18! Any cameraleather users out there?

Griptac.

... likes film again.
Griptack all the way ... After having recovered my M4-P with griptack I also recovered my M7 with it. Much better handling compared to the original M7 leatherette.

I put griptac on my Zeiss ZI and an Autocord, and tbh I can't wait till the leatherette on my M4 starts to go so I can recover it in griptac too. It's great stuff.

Thanks for all your help and advice (and nice pics). I'll probably give Griptac a go because of such positive comments. Unfortunately, my M6 is currently away for a CLA with Malcolm Taylor in UK, so I probably won't see it this side of Christmas.

That's a very purposeful looking MP you have there, but what's that knurled ring for on top of the camera - that wouldn't be an SF20 flashgun mounted on an MP would it?Griptac.

Yes it is!
But you'll be pleased to hear that I've replaced it with a Nikon SB-800.

Cameraleathers Levant leather looks really nice. I have it on my M3, and heres an attempt at a close up shot of it.

Ben, thanks for the pic, I like the look of the levant leather as it's still in keeping with the tradtional look of the camera etc.
How does it feel compared to the original vulcanite on the M3 considering it's twice the price of griptac?
