Hi there all,
Did a 2008 trip around some places in Europe, namely Germany, Austria , Belgium, etc and had my moleskin with me ( and my wife
)
Sadly, lost the moleskin ( but kept the wife ) and all the anotations that were with it - places names, street names, churches, etc.
So I wanted to give her ( shes always talking with me about those pictures ) a Blurb book with those pictures and of course, want to put some coments what street / church / etc are in the pictures.
Therefore, calling help from all M photographers to go on my flickr albums and identify what they can : if you recognize the street name on the picture, the church , garden, etc, please write it as a comment.
So far, only two sets are only on my flickr page : Belgium and Berlin.
Couple of more will be added on the next weekend and I will appreciate your help !
I will repost again on the weekend,
Thanks in advance to all,
Goncalo Proenca
ps : photos arent finished, so not all of them are processed to their final version neither sensor dust spots are not removed, etc.

Hi, I commented some of the pics in your Berlin set. I'm not from Berlin, but I've seen lots of Berlin in several trips as a tourist from southern Germany.

Too sharpened
Too sharpened
The over-sharpening in photoshop or whatever are really grating on the eyes.
Looks like there are some churches in that photo set.

Many of the Brussels photos are on or around Grand Place in the city center. However, I'm not knowledgeable enough to give you any more specific coordinates.

ampguy : true, they are wayyyy oversharpened. but also I said that these arent the final version - I was only trying some settings and this time I went full on with Lightroom in the sharpening department : to be honest, I dont like it. Since the photos will be deleted in a month or so ( still have to finish correcting them, taking spots, convert a few to bw, choosing a bit more carefull some photos ) I will def lower the sharp center.
The churches are beautifull but pose a problem : how the heck can I identify them from INSIDE ( I rarely take pictures on the outside ).
Thanks for the tip Mablo, Grand Place does ring a bell.

Ok
Ok
Here's a tip for future photos: Set camera on JPEG only mode. Set all 3 image parameters to "standard"
Good luck.

Question: why not add dotted lines to the pictures and let your wife (and others) write the places etc. with them over time? Might be a very pleasant occupation, and I think it would make it all the more tempting to look at the shots over and over again, and to remember the trip.

a bit that may help your memory on the Belgium set:
the first few pictures (park) are in the Parc du Cinquantenaire, the building is the Army Museum.
The statue of the small boy pissing is actually that; Mannequin Piss (the symbol of Brussels).
The church photos I believe are from the Cathedrale St. Michel.
There is a photo of the Royal Palace.
A photo at the Place Leopold.
A couple of photos at the small park of Petit Sablon with the statues around the bushes.
I believe your wife is having a beer at the bar La Mort Subite.
The gallery shots are from Gallerie St. Hubert and the Northern Passage.
Street shot of your wife under the restaurant tents is from Rue des Bouchers (the famous fish restaurant street)
There are a couple of shots at the Grand Place (one of the Town Hall)
Lived in Brussels a few years but I moved 5 years ago, so dont remember everything.
I hope this helps.

Whatever
I commented on some of your Dresden shots - my wife and I stayed right across the street from the Frauenkirche, so that one was easy.

Added some comments on your Berlin ones. The Wall pics are all most likely East Side Gallery.

thanks all for your comments and please keep them comming.
Reason I dont want to give to the wife to put her comments is :
1 - she doesnt remember much ( 5 trips , 2 of them big , after this one )
2 - its supposed to be a surprise gift the photo book for her
