Hello, this is my first post on this forum, i hope i'm placing this in a possibly right section.

I've been checking two cameras, and don't know wether to make the move and buy them or not. The thing is, both are similar cameras with different inscriptions, and one of them is labeled Leica all over it, lens and body. So, i was wondering if anyone more experienced than i could tell me through photos if you think the camera is a real Leica (this is the camera labeled as Leica):

this is the other camera, apparently exactly equal to the other, but with strange inscriptions (the seller of both cameras is the same):

if anyone could give me an opinion, that would be nice

They look both like faked Leicas to me, nicely (more or less) made up Russian Feds (or Zorki ?). Especially the second one with the WWII engravings ... I am not an expert at all but would not buy any of them.

Not Leicas for sure. The first one is FED and the second is Zorki. Value is 50USD each (if they work) but I wouldn't take any of these for free.

Both are fake. The first one is better done with the fake slow speed dial but too many other parts are faked for it to be a real Leica III. I thought it might be a Leica body with a fake Elmar on it but it's all FSU - no strap lugs, no curve in the plate over the RF adjusting screw, etc.

Save your money.

So someone glued a slow speed dial on the camera? Sad. But you are right.

Rui, are these cameras really for sale? Or, are you just messin' with us. :)

They didn't make FSU with slow speed dials on the front. Real Leica.

They look to me as Leica II fakes. The second one is clearly a Zorki 1-d, a FSU Leica II copy from the -50's. The other one is similar type, so if it's a Leica it's type II. Leica II doesn't have slow speed dials. My take is that the s-s dial is just bluff.

Some fakers may have succeeded at transplanting Zorki 3 innards into old FED and Zorki bodies - even a camera with working slow speed dial could be a fake...

thanks for the answers. So, the majority of you guys think these are fake Leicas. You're probably right, because it would be too good to be true if i could get real Leicas like these for 180€, which how much the seller is charging for them.

Pickett, i'm not messing with you :) they really are for sale those cameras, at least they are being sold, at a portuguese online market.

i'll look for other sources. It's ok to dream though :D
