In Australia we have an old saying. "As flash (as in showy) as a rat with a gold tooth." usually applied to mean a person who is low class, flashy and covered in what the Americans call 'bling'.
This camera just about fits that description perfectly.

I thought gold toning was for the PRINTS, not the cameras...

Frankly, I would buy it, but at a low price, considering I would have to invest in a deplating and at least a black repaint of the whole thing.
I think I prefer to buy a good camera.

The Canon IVSb2 is an excellent camera. I of course saying that knowing I paid @$1,250 less than this one is offered for. Mine isn't gold though, but it did have a lens and Walz filter/hood kit.

It won't be easy to remove the gold plating. Gold is a pretty inert metal. It only dissolves in aqua regia, but that will have dissolved the brass long before. Reverse electroplating requires sodium cyanide solutions that could kill half a city when not properly disposed. No, I'm afraid this poor camera is doomed to stay this way...

Nahh. Gold may be inert, but it's super soft. Disassemble. Cloth wheel and rouge. Prep and paint.

Ick. Sorry, but just ick. Whoever did that to a poor defenseless IVSb2 (a 2 is rare enough!) should be ...
