Speaking of possible scams ...

wow cash only transaction huh? I suppose I'm to wait for the seller to go get the camera from the trunk of his car after I hand over a big bag of money with a dollar sign on it.

aren't these typical of Ads in Craigslist?

Though, I did take a chance last time I was SF, and bagged an iPhone 3g at a very cheap price (w/11 months warranty). I was scared out of my wits, going to met the seller at an isolated parking lot. It turned out that he got it as a present, but did not know how to use the phone. duh!

No way, not for that kind of money. And even if I did, I think it would be wise to show up with as many buddies I could possibly gather.

Let's see, cash only, local pick-up only, El-Lay area. Lotsa shill bids by 0-feedback users ... No current feedback at all, only one feedback years ago.

Yeah, right, just meet me at the corner of Dark and Deserted at 0-dark-hundred, small bills, please.

Update: In "El-Lay" the meetings are in dark and deserted alleys; street corners are too visible!

This has been an experience of several Cr**g's L*st 'buyers' of used cars recently.

While this looks like a scam, what is the problem with CAST transactions? Why do some people think everyone else is a thief? why do some people (me) think everyone is honest? Actually I've been taken a few times in my 60 years but not enough to be so distrustful that I think everyone is a scam artist. Largest amount of money was from a camera business that stopped payment on a company check. Friendly call from the Sheriff's dept cleared that one up quick.

Local transaction - simple, go to a public place (restaurant, bank, whatever) and exhange goods there. If the guy is a scammer he will not show up.
