I have a damaged Nikon (not Nippon Kogaku) Nikkor-S 1.4 lens that was factory AI'd and now have a chance to buy a non-AI Nikkor-S cheap and hope to be able to use the aperture ring on it. Will all of the non-AI 50mm f/1.4 Nikon Nikkor-S lens take the same AI ring or were there different ones?
My s/n is 12059xx

Here one one of my favorite sites for lens info but they do not have AI conversion kit listings.
http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/serialno.html
There are folks that do it, this site links to two.

I've recommended many people to John White and the results are spectacular.
Here's the chart you are looking for:

Hopes this helps.

I've got these sites bookmarked but they don't have the info I need.
I don't need the conversion ring since I already have it on the defective lens. I can remove it and place it on the new lens if it fits but some lens of the same focal length require different rings and I was wondering if the Nikon (not Nippon Kogaku) Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4 lens used the same ring..

Unfortunately it does not list the kit for my current lens. Just "round prong" so I don't know if mine is kit 5, 6, or 7..

Colyn,
The list has the information that you seek. Look at the serial numbers of both lenses. Are they in the same range on the chart? If so, then you are fine, the transplant will work. If not, then you need to get a good fine screw driver, after looking if the screws are in the same place on each lens and give it a try.

Just contact Roland Vink the site owner with your question. He will likely have the answer if you come up with a dead end extrapolating the info as B2 says.

Something must be up with him as he usually has responded fairly quickly to the odd email I have sent him.

Yours is a type 6. As long as the new lens has a serial between 635511 and 1613735 it will fit. The later range C lenses are identical apart from the black paint and the coated optics. Best info I could find

I heard from Roland this morning with the info I needed. I ended up passing on the lens since it was out of the s/n range but found one on eBay that will work.
