Noctilux 1982 vs 2002

None. Maybe a difference in coating but that's it. Also some people think the earlier ones had better build quality.

just FYI, mine's from 1975 (58mm filter), and the build quality is also very good.

don't walk, run and get one! :)

The later ones had improved multi-coating on some of the surfaces as evidenced by the green reflex on some of the elements, otherwise optically unchanged during the entire run. I once owned an Noctilux (E60 version with retactable shade) and found build quality exceptional and optical performance was great for a 50/1.

Should be but who knows? You'll have to inspect it then you'll know. Mine is 31 years old, was given a CLA by DAG after I bought it, is perfect.

27 years isn't that old. There are plenty of lenses from the 1930s & before that still function fine mechanically & optically, but as peter_n points out, it all depends on the specific lens.

thanx
optics is the same
but mechanical?
its 27 years old, itd still working good ?

There can be two problems with Noctilux lenses as with many other lenses, fungus or element separation. I have only heard about one Noctilux being fungus infected and have seen one copy sold on eBay as defect with a separated element. However, if the lens was properly stored and not dropped or otherwise abused there should not be any problem.

Agree. My E58 Noct's barrel is quite used, but glass is very clean, as any other lenses, if the glass is clean, it's just depends on the barrel condition you want.
