Now if the woman had pulled out a Canon F with the huge motor drive and battery pack, then I would have said "This is a miracle" or maybe "Santa claus really exists".
And then she would discover the guy on the monitor of the Canon F. Do you mean this miracle?

If it was shot in the spring, leica surely would've wanted the image of the camera to be generic, so it could be tied to either the M8 or M9, whatever is for sale at the moment. I'd be very surprised if they didn't pay for the product placement... !
Anyway, the more leica sales, the better, whomever to. Pick up the rf market, more volume for the used market, and hopefully more drfs in the future!

Chanel wants to be tied to people of taste for quality. If the girl had pulled up a 'Panasony'-camera - and wore Levis jeans, it would be sending the wrong signals; 'cheap'.
I fully understand Chanel.
I agree, a DSLR would look chessy in a Chanel ad (they look chessy anywhere IMO). Chanel really had no other choice but Leica, maybe a digital Hassy but that would be over kill.

I am waiting for a commercial trailer performed by Salma Hayek and a Kiev 4!
I would want to check out her Contax grip.

I'd be suprised if Leica payed for that. It's so short i wouldn't call it product placement. Only a Leica aficionado (or Leica freak) would notice that this is a Leica.

As I work in the commercial industry, I would say that typically "Product Placement" is pretty rare in commercials for other products. And since the Leica appears to be "greeked" or stealth mode, the Art Director on the shoot probably sold the Director on using the leica in the spot. If It did go through product placement channels one stipulation is you can never cover any logos. Recognizable products are always a pain in the ass in commercials. We are always modifying products and or removing logos. That being said, I'll always try to throw an M body or my Rd 1 somewhere on my sets. Ken

Apparently, she knows how to use the camera. That would be F/5.6 or thereabout. At ISO 100 in that light should be about right for 1/250 to 1/500. Good enough for avoiding motion blur on a boat

Is it me, or does that look like a 0.95 Noctilux on that M8?
That's a 90/2 Apo-Summicron.
And it indeed does not have any lettering in real. so nothing hidden on the lens.

It is her own M8 given to her by the producer of a film she worked on as mentioned before. Queen Elizabeth II's Leica was a gift from Solms after she requested one with no serial number.

i am hoping now that xmas is over, the avalanche that hit the TV screens a fortnight ago of perfume and cologne adverts, with hollywoods 'look at me i am being paid ridiculous money to fake using this product, and you are stupid enough to buy it, based on this corny ad' is finished..plu-eeze i am so sick of them, it only took a couple of days!
Before I have to watch stupid ads for washing agents or fridges or cars I love those ads for perfumes etc. because they are optically very nice and there are no stupid arguments why this might be the better product compared to others.

Great ad, but I didn't know Leica had a zoom lens. Or Audrey can change lenses faster than the speed of light
You can see that the angle on the pictures is not changing, but you can also see she is not zooming in on the same photo. Because the image numbers change from 28/40 to 32/40. And why are the still 8 more pictures on the card. And I don't think you can shoot 10 FPS on a Leica M.
