Can you tell me what I must do to get my M3 to sync to my Vivitar 283?
Thanks,
Vic

Use a PC sync cable and get a flash socket adapter for Leica flash socket to PC flash socket. You're M3 will sync at 1/50th only.

It will synch at speeds slower than 1/50th as well.

At some point, when I had my M3 CLA'd, I had the little socket in the back replaced with a standard PC socket. Costed about $30 extra IIRC.

I didn't fancy the adapter poking out the back of the camera.

Brian, I'm in Santa Rosa.

Well, not THAT close by, but if you ever come by Berkeley, we do have 'em.

Getting the camera converted to standard plugs is nicer in the long run though, that's for sure. I'm still poking myself in the eye w/ mine.

I had an M3 with permanently fitted socket adapter from 1985 to 2002 and didn't once get poked in the eye or anywhere else.

For my recently acquired M3 I got an adapter from DAG Camera, whose e-mail address is dagcam AT chorus DOT net.

Thanks, all! I evidently posted this question in two forums. Apologies if I caused any confusion! I shoot with my right eye, so the adaptor would be fine if it doesn't cost more than having the cam modified.
Thanks again, Vic
