I am looking for a wrist strap for my Leica M2. I have tried both the lug and tripod mound straps from Gordy and neither work for me. They kink in such an irritating way when I hold the camera.

Can anyone recommend any that are softer and don't get in the way?

The one I really like is the Luigi wrist strap with the "tiny end". No metal ring to rub on the lugs of the M2 ( M3 in my case ), and is long enough to fit comfortably in my hand. I use one on my GF1 too.

I'd suggest that maybe order a few ( different colors ) to make the shipping worth it!

Easiest way to get rid of the kinking in a gordie strap is to put your hand through from above, not below. That way the strap does not kink and is not in the way when fripping the camera

I've never had a Gordy strap kink. Maybe I'm just lucky; they do get more pliable as they wear in. Also, maybe you had the standard size and it was too small for your hand.

Those other ones look good, too.

I've one quite similar chinese strap from eBay but don't use it as the strap opening is not adjustable. Hence I'm always worried to drop the camera. I guess this could be quite easily rectified but since then I've bought myself a Luigi strap which is just unbeatably comfortable to use, being adjustable and very soft.

My concern about attaching a wrist strap to the lugs is that you are putting a pull stress on a fitting which was intended to handle a sheer stress. On one of my FSU cameras, the lug came loose and caused a light leak which was very difficult to track down.

I would advise against having a camera dangle from the wrist strap, especially a heavier rangefinder like a Leica or a ZI. Even when I use a wrist strap, I usually have the camera in my hand all the time, the strap is only supporting my grip on it.

Regarding the comment before on the Gordie strap, that of course was for a lug-attached strap, not a tripod-screw attached strap, putting your hand through that from above would make you a contortionist for sure :p

I for one have been very satisfied with Gordy's wrist straps. I have one for all of my cameras and some neck straps too for my TLR's.

Although it is a neck strap, I recommend A&A's cloth strap. The strap is a flat cloth without adjusting buckle and stuff so you can quickly wrap it around your hand/arm/wrist and use it as very secure wrist strap. I use mine on two Ms and an OM mainly as wrist strap, and hang from neck/shoulder when I need my both hands open.

wrist strap goes best with a camera that has a grip attached.

my current favourite is the coach strap from mr. zhow, ebay.
not as soft as a luigi but still soft, nice and long - great when wearing gloves in winter.
