Konica C35 arrived

Took delivery of my Konica C35 V that I bought on ebay for 99p! I wanted it to replace my Ricoh 35 FM which is handy to have as a go anywhere camera that I don't need to worry about breaking, as you can see the Ricoh is cosmetically mint but sadly the shutter doesn't work any more. So I ended up buying this Konica which looks very rough but everything seem's to be working fine and it's quite a nice camera to hold so I'm impressed so far but can anyone tell me, does the C35 V have the same lens as the higher spec rangefinder C35s?

I understand that they are the same. I have both and they seem to look identical and make similar images. It's nice to use the scale focus, works well with good metering.
I'm sure that you will like it.

I hope my C35 doesn't die soon. I've had them for 40 years. To me, it is the best travel camera I've ever had. I took it the Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. It was great while resting on an altar rail:

Same f/2.8 38mm lens, same filter size. The Hexanon is a four-element lens -- probably Tessar-type.

The C35, V and Automatic also share the same trap-needle CdS meter that was popular with this style of camera.

They're good cameras, even though they feel lightweight.

That camera us long gone, but a few years ago I had a C35 (rangefinder) and loved it. I'm not sure why I sold it. I'd love to have a black C35, or even better an S2.

Earl, I have a parts C35 black body if you want it (I'll send it to you, free), you will have to do some work with another camera for parts to get it going, but it is yours or anyones if you/they want it. All it lacks, is the meter ring, the filter ring (it is there but bumped), and a new plastic view finder cover plastic.

John, that's a very generous offer. On further reflection, my desire for a black C35 really doesn't mesh with what I need to accomplish with my photo projects. So, I will let someone else have the fun.

I had a C35 Automatic. I traded it in 1979 with a pellet gun and a 30X telescope to one of the K-9 cops for "Dark Side of the Moon," Elvis Costello and Boomtown Rats albums and a bunch of others. I still have the albums.

By then I had a Pentax MX, so I no longer needed the Konica. A year later, I sold the Pentax to my brother, who three years later sold it to a friend of mine, who still has it but no longer uses it. I intend to get the Pentax MX back some day.

What can I say? My C35 EF3 (different body with integrated flash and also scale focus) is wonderful camera. It doesn't show selected exposure in VF, though.

A few months ago I got my first Konica C35 Automatic.
It's still in amazing *mint* condition, though a data sheet showed the original owner bought it in mid 1970s.
So regardless of the deteriorated foam inside, I just tested shooting with film. Glad it works well. 🙂

Processed my first roll of film through the camera today, bit disappointed that the first 10 frames were overlapped! Can't fault the rest of the camera though, nice lens too....shame my pics a steaming pile of poop, literary!

At what speed does the shutter fire in the flash setting on these little cameras. I think it was built for GN 14 flash.

I have been offered one of these and wondered what the differences were between the C35 and the C35 Automatic...can anyone shed some light...?

I have found some online info but the differences aren't very obvious.

That's right, differences aren't obvious because there are none. One of them could be flashmatic system, I'm not sure if it were new in Automatic model or already existed in original C35.

Be sure, both models were fully AE, not allowing other manual overrides than by means of changing ISO.

Anyway, C35 is thing itself, and lens is very nice in it's class. Put some roll through it and see I'm not lying 🙂

The difference between the C35 Automatic and the C35V is that the Automatic has a rangefinder to focus, while the V is zone focus. With the V, you can see the distance setting in the viewfinder.

Lens is the same. Meter system is the same, from what I can tell. Konica printed a single instruction guide for both models.

I sold my V a few weeks ago.

I will say that Konicas stuffed the back with foam all over the place and can be a real chore to clean and reseal. The Olympus 35 models are equally as bad when it came to their prolific use of foam.

ZeissFan, that's right about scale-focus C35V, though there are plain C35 and C35 Automatic (both RF's).

Gummed up foam? I think Ricoh 500G/GX has it more than any other camera 🙂
