Noctilux Photos

Hi guys, I'm a new Noctilux user. Just brought a E60 two weeks ago brand new.
Enjoy.

Hi guys,

Is it true that with the M8, you don't get as much vignetting as with film?
I just brought a Leica Noctilux, the last version with the built in hood, and I don't notice any vignetting when I'm shooting wide open. Is this normal?

cheers,

Nico

Nico,

I have the same type Noctilux. With the built in sun shade (sort of). When I use it on my M8 vignetting is not that visible, but still.... Whenever I use it with film, full frame, vignetting is very much visible. It is at least three stops at the corners. As you can see confirmed on a lot of the pictures shown in this thread. You will find some of the corners 'all dark'. How many stops is that...? If the pictures are not all dark in the corners the pictures is either taken with a M8 or stopped down a click or two.

Thank you for the help. I will go a take more shots tonight with the Noct, and my M6. I will try to have them develop by tomorrow, so I can see the real difference between film and digital. :)

For now, enjoy these pics.

The Noctilux is an absolutely crazy bokeh beast.

Can someone recomend an ND filter, so I can use this lens during the day with my M6?

Thank you very much and have a happy weekend everyone,

Nico

shtarka1, thank you !

Nico and Gregory, some awesome shots !! Thanks for sharing !:)

About an ND filter for the 50/1.0 ... I tried one (ND 8x from memory) and found the vignetting to become really bad. Maybe a 2x would be more suitable for this lens. One tip, if you should BW then a mild yellow or orange-filter is quite useful with this lens.

Maddoc: I love your Noct shots as well. I notice you use the orange/yellow filter. Thanks for the tip. I admit that I kind of like the vignetting .

I will look into a orange or yellow filter too.

I love the option of being able to use the Noctilux wide open for "one look" and than taking off the B+W ND filter and stopping down for "another look" altogether. Although the prevailing wisdom is that you don't buy a Noctilux to stop it down, I feel the performance is fine at F8/11.
