This used GF670 folder just closed on eBay. Seller with good history and feedback 100%. Started at $1499. Only 4 bids on a ten day auction. See what it sold for.

This item was on ebay long enough with a good seller for a better price IF there is going to be a used market.

This happens to be what I would have purchased a new one for, if they had come in at this price. While I realize my original expectation was very low in light of cost of producing the camera (?), this may be a more realistic idea of what the market will bear on price.

Now, I will be seriously watching for one. It may be a fluke, but.....

But while watching this auction, I bought this to go with my other Mamiya stuff, particularly my 50 and 75mm lenses.

So, I am now looking for the cable release to go with this type 3 Mamiya 6X9 film back. Anyone know who might have one?

I was watching that FUJI GF670 and it's nice to see that it sold for $1600 and something. That same seller has a Horseman VHR without a lens or lens board up for grabs. It's a beast - but a rotating back, plus movements offers a lot of possibilities.

I'm kind of leaning towards an old Crown Graphic "23" or Century Graphic - because they are cheap and allow for GG focusing.

By the way, that Mamiya Universal looks sweet. I'm not sure, but I believe that that later E Sekor 100 is set in a Copal #0 instead of a Seikosha S shutter. Enjoy your new camera.

No, even though I've been looking for them for a while. Ironically, one went through ebay while I was away last summer, and that was the only I've seen without a overpriced camera or back. If you happen to run into an excess of them, please drop me a note...

hee hee, sometimes it's a relief to lose!:p
No, it's not really a relief, I'm still having regrets 12 hours later. However I won't have to explain to my wife and now I might have money for the taxman so the practical side says I should be glad I didn't bid higher. I'd still love to have one though. Once upon a time (around 1980) I had a Zeiss Super Ikonta C 6x7 with a Planar. It was fantastic, and very rare. I ended up selling it to a Japanese company (this was before the internet) to feed the kids (d_mn kids). Anyway, I've tried the Bessa II, and for a variety of reasons, wasn't very impressed. The new Fuji seems the answer to my dreams. I should sell off some of my accumulation and just go for it.

On another subject, the Horseman VFR is an incredible camera and far better than the crown graphics. However, without the matching lenses and cams it's really not much more than a crown graphic.

May have one made...

I almost did this once before, but now, thanks to Peter in Japan, I now have a picture of one. It looks like it would be fairly easy to machine the end that goes into film back, and then silver solder it to a short regular release cable. I know a machinist who doesn't mind doing these small jobs, so perhaps I will have one made. If this works, I'll post here.

Now that somebody has mentioned Bessa... does anyone know for sure if there is any real difference between this camera and the Bessa III? I'm particularly focusing on the lens (no pun intended)... the one of GF670 is listed as a Fujinon EBC, while the one on the Bessa III is the Color Heliar. Or is that what accounts for the difference in price?

AFAIK, there's no difference whatsoever other than the name on the camera and lens.

Thanks, guys. We have a pretty good Voigtlander distributor here in Bangkok who always has at least a Bessa III sitting on his shelf. On the other hand, Fuji is a rarity. My piggy bank now has "Bessa III" written on it :)

hard to say Jamie, but the bessa name would sit more comfy on the shelf along side my other bessas, but i kinda like the chrome version which only the fuji comes in eh....frankly i dont give a rats which i would get, provide i happen to the cash to spens at the time...if i get one, when the time is right, to me its a camera to use, and i do have some reservations about using it on a constant basis (it has quite a few caveats)...if i win the raffle i will likely be an advert for the dam camera though!!!such as it is i am sitting on the bench because i am lucky with raffles *crossed fingers*....the film industry will love me too because the darn thing is basically a giant point and shoot camera that eats film like a cookie monster, you cant help but waist film hand over fist with that thing!!!!

Does the Fuji production model actually come in chrome? I thought it was the prototype only.
I also don't really care whether it's a Fuji or a Bessa but I do like that the Bessa doesn't have any lettering on the door latch. The lettering on the Bessa seems to be more subtle overall.
