I think you are right. That said, for me, the EP-1 and so forth are not the camera for a zoom at all. I did get the kit with zoom at first for 2 reasons, I figured a zoom would be useful, and I gambled (and won I think) that the Panny 20 is better than the Oly 17. With the Panny 14 coming out soonish, my EP-1 will be a two lens kit and nothing more. Perfect for me, small with compact lenses. No, not a CLE replacement, but it can do the same job.

Yes, 2.8 is on their lens plan. I think there is an Oly 14 or 12 2.8 planned, but not until 2011. I don't think there will be many folks waiting that long.

Let's hope for internal EVF. It is possible that this is not a u 4/3 camera and is just a new stylus with a small sensor to compete with the Canon G10 or whatever.

Look at the soon to be released Samsung NX10. It has an APS-C sized sensor, a built-in EVF, but has the form factor/size "close" to the 4/3 cameras. Additionally, its processor supposedly is intelligent enough to adjust for blown highlights. It comes with "the usual" kit zoom but will be launched with an optional 30mm f2 (45mm equiv) fixed prime pancake lens. I'm all over this camera at a $699 US price with kit zoom at B&H. I think this camera, with its higher MP count (14), built-in EVF, and similar size will eat Panny and Oly's 4/3 camera lunch at a price that's lower than the 4/3 alternatives by $100 or so. http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/...es/ES-NX10ZZSEB/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail

I've seen it and I'm not interested. Call me shallow, but I'm not a fan of SLR style bodies and this looks like an SLR for me. I know it's not, but it looks like one still. I'm a fan of the Olympus and the Leica X1. I guess I like a retro style and simplified controls.

That looks pretty cool. A Fuji with a bigger sensor could be pretty nice.

(Too bad this is a photoshop. Still, an entry from Fuji would be *very* nice. I have yet to be disappointed by a Fuji camera, film or digital, and their lenses kick ass.)

It's ugly, but a 1.6x crop is a lot more bearable than 2x in my book... they've got more room to improve on high ISO performance, for one. I'm hoping they release something similar in styling to the m4/3 bodies, although I'm afraid they might not if their first body doesn't sell well.

Ideally, if the NX10 was successful, other manufacturers would step up to the plate with competing EVIL's, maybe we'd even get a 1.3x or full frame one in the next couple of years. A person can dream...

I'm not bothered by the crop factor ... I just use the lenses designed for the u4/3 system... I stay within a range of 28mm - 50mm on any camera I use anyway.

Of course if things lined up the way *we* wanted, Fuji and Olympus would come up with something like that. I quite like Fuji EBC lenses, they have sharpness to spare.
