leica M2fan, thanks for the mention. for the rest of you, the reference is to the Mingus tune, "Good Bye, Pork Pie Hat," on "Mingus, Ah Um." An LP that should be in the record collection of any true jazz fan. Better Git in Your Soul. Anyone with Monk as their avatar is cool in my book. the pork pie hat here is a Stetson that I believe to be from the 40's. one of my favorite melon covers.
