I hope this is the right venue for this question - and as much as I hate "what's it worth?" questions, I'm stymied. I can't find a similar in E-bay's completes, or on any of the dealer sites.
Has anybody seen an 85 Nikkor P screw mount sold lately?
Lens would be an 8-,(a small scratch on the outer edge of the front element and a small blossom on one of the rear elements. The shade is a 5-. Original Nippon Kogaku bright line finder a 9+.
Thanks.

Because of the fungus, assuming it's chrome, less than US 200.
Note that the rear elements are cemented, so depending on the location, fungus might be real difficult to clean. Or it could be separation ?
You should be able to get a chrome one with hood and clean glass for US 350 or so, if you are patient. Black ones run 500 or more.
Great lens.
Roland.

Just picked a chrome version on ebay for 250. The barrel has a bit of wear. Numbers, etc. are a bit faded. But the glass is in very nice condition.
It came with the orginal case, caps, etc.

I haven't seen any on eBay recently, but then again I haven't been looking. I think around $200-300 is the going rate for the standard (excluding rare/unusual variations) chrome version depending on condition; considerably more (maybe twice) for the later (& lighter) black version.
Edit: Here's a recent completed eBay auction (maybe the 1 tbarker13 picked up):

As a guide, Rick, you might like to look on www.keh.com and www.igorcamera.com. The examples they have are probably without blemishes.
The Black Brightline Finder is worth a good bit. The chrome finder, not as much. If you can, post a picture of the set.
The lens with the scratch and problem spot on the rear element is probably in the $175~$200 range. I paid $300 for an LTM lens that is near mint, with mint glass.

They are becoming somehow rarer. Neither Igor, nor KEH has copies, and they used to always have a few. Even Kevin's stock is reduced.
On the other hand, Igor has several 105/2.5 copies.
Roland.

There is a reason for that:
Nikkor-P 8.5cm f2 in LTM, on the Canon P.

Thanks all.
Yes, this is a black lens (with a silver nose,) and the finder is black too.
I don't know how I missed the ebay info, but I did ck KEH site.
I'm running some film through it (sic) tomorrow.

Check the fungus carefully. If it's mostly removable you have a great and rare lens in front of you.
Here are CLA instructions, BTW. It's pretty straight-forward to take apart and clean:

Just checked my own notes and wanted to correct what I wrote above: the lens has a
single rear element, so it should be easy to clean .....

Hope to see some nice portraits on flickr soon, Tim. Not that you would depend on a particular lens ....
Thanks. I don't know how nice they'll be, but I do plan to start using it in some portrait sessions very soon. Shot a few with it this weekend, just to test it out. I still need to get a UV/IR filter for it, though.

As soon as I get my M3 back from Don Goldberg -- it has reached India but is perhaps being soaked in watery coffee at the airport -- I shall enter my Serenar 85/2 in the stakes. The results from my Jupiter 9 are not bad, but then my model in the attached photo is not young and pretty.
However, short-tele-lust never dies. I am waiting to hear from Jonathan Kaplan, whom I asked if I might have his father Al's Nikkor 85/2.
