is this a light leak in the camera?
or could it be an issue with the film?

Those look very much like light leaks. Which Yashica is that?

Try carefully running another roll through it. Take the camera outside on a very bright day, also use it in near darkness. If it's the camera, it will show up more on the bright, sunny day shots.

Then I would say it is the camera leaking, not the film. Maybe check the light seals around the back door?

That looks like a light leak to me. To confirm it, have a look at the negative. If there's a greenish tinge that has crept over the sprocket perforations, then it must be leaky seals. As it's in the vertical plane it must be either at the hinge end or at the door opening end.

yes there is a greenish tinge on the negative
i will try to figure this out and seal the leak
thankssss guys!

but how would i go about and do that?

There's a first rate chap in America called Jon Goodman who sells sealing material for all sorts of cameras including The Yashica. He sells on e-bay under the name 'Interslice'. I've done several cameras using his stuff, it's dead easy. He has a Yashica kit on sale on the UK ebay right now, (just search for 'Yashica Electro 35 and it's bound to come up). I'll bet it's on the US ebay too.

His instructions are at:

I hope this helps

I've replaced seals in a couple of these cameras using black foam tape with an adhesive backing. It's 2mm thick, so if you cut 2x2mm strips, they fit very nicely. The ones on the door ends are a little tricky to install, but with time and patience, it's doable. The nasty part is getting everything clean first. I used sharpened chopsticks as scrapers with alcohol and pipe cleaners to finish cleaning out all the gunk.
