Think Different
Sales, overall, up 17%. M-system sales doubled. Made profit of 4.8 million Euro.
Not bad considering the down economy.

Imagine what sales and profitability would be if they would put more assemblers on the M9 production.
Isn't a "positive result" a profit and a "negative result" a loss?

Only for the 3rd quarter, not the year.

It's a little surprising it wasn't better. Folks that buy $7,000 cameras and $3,000 lenses wouldn't seem to me to be folks effected much by the economy.

Well-known
One swallow doth not a Spring make. One would expect a bump in sales with new products, the trouble is that demand for expensive limited interest products matures very rapidly - the M9 is not going to be in every home come next Christmas but the majority of people who will buy may have bought by then. There are reasons for so many years of losses (including this year despite the M9) that have everything to do with the business model and less to do with the availability of new digital cameras.
To put things in perspective Nikon's camera sale alone amount to some 5 billion euros

You have to crawl before you can run. They're getting close to being in the black. Not bad for this worldwide economy

That's good news, thanks for letting us know. I am really impressed by Leica and their commitment to the craft photo engineering.
