Thanks Rob . I'm very impressed with it great image quality when stopped down and it's small enough to allow me to take it anywhere. The only problem has been tearing the sprokets when trying to wind on at the last frame of every roll I've shot with it. The present roll I will rewind at 36 rather than my usual keep going until you hit the end. The leica provides a reassuring end to the roll in comparison

The Mini should be fine on any of those. I used a Mini on a Kiev 4a and a Kiev 4 with no problems. I also used the Mini on a Canon P and it was OK.
I'm not sure if the top layout of the 2A and 2C is the same but the Mini is very close to the diameter of the on/off switch on my R2A. The R2C is not AE? which means, I think, that it doesn't have that switch?

Works fine on the Canon 7's and also on the R2C - though occasionally have encountered R2C with a slightly different thread.

Why is the orientation of the lettering all over the place? 😱 Is it difficult to make them the same as per the Leica script? Or maybe back out the screw a bit and use red loctite 🙄, or shim the softie a bit? 😀

I don't have a digital camera so I cannot easily post a photo but then Y'all have seen a rff softie on a black M6. What I wanted to say was I was doubtful about soft releases but wanted to buy one and it's wonderful. I like it a lot. I usually just carry an M6 with 50 summilux in an old Benser bag with a wrist loop. There is room for a spare roll of film in it so I took the top of a Fuji plastic film container and drilled a 1/16 (1.5mm) hole in it so the softie screws into that and stays there when not in use. a bit off topic but since we're talking soft releases here have you had a chance to try it out with the Bessa III? If so, which one would work better, the mini or the regular one?

I have tried the Mini and the Classic on the Bessa III. I have to admit that you really dont need it! The release on the III is so soft that with the Softie you are really "pushing" it (pun intended). If and when you use the III on a tripod and have forgotten the cable release - it does help. I found that the Mini worked best - at least the few times I used it. Also accidental exposures with the III at 6x7 mode wastes 10% of the film !!!!. However, the Rff Softie looks good on it.

Well, I did say that I'd need to get a camera that I could use the regular size SR on...😀
Actually, on this camera, the SRs--either mini or regular--make a very big difference in how good the release feels.
The only thing that might have me using a Mini on this is that I can't get to the rewind clutch with the SR on the camera.

If Tom A was also making the shutter releases the softies are attached to, I be confident the orientation would be much more consistent.😀

Perhaps a perfectly aligned RFF softie with the Leica script would cost three times more to make than the normal softie due to QC and additional factory time needed to get them aligned. 😕
Or perhaps a symmetrical type of scripting makes the misalignment less obvious. Something like the Match Technical softie where the lettering are circumferential.
Or change RFF to OOF. (Out of focus, the letter "O" being symmetrical.) <-- my stoopid joke of the day. 😀

could it just be that not every camera's shutter release threads are aligned at the same angle 😉

I was going to say the same thing. I don't think that the folks who put these cameras together really thought about aligning all the threads so that our RFF softies all point to the same direction. these threads were made for cable releases, i.e., in the first place, not for custom made soft releases.

I don't care about alignment; these two new softies look great. A Mr. Barnack the Cat atop my M2 and an RFF stationed on my M8. Of course, I now need to buy two more cameras so that the softies that were replaced by these nifty new ones can find new shutter releases to grace with their presence. While I'm sure I can sneak two softies under my wife's radar, I'm not sure I can do the same with two cameras.
