Apart from my OM's (which I bought S/H before I realized what follows), all my camera's are black. It's just easier to explain to the wife if she asks is I "bought ANOTHER new camera"; I just can answer "Nah, that's my black one"

I like the stealthiness of black...
But, the silver is so RETRO too.....

In fact the black bodies are chromium too (except for the paint bodies). I have one of each, and thus shoot slides in both. I generally prefer black, but have black and chrome lenses to keep things mixed up.Black camera= Black and white film
Chrome camera= chrome (slides) film.

Does anyone have more new pics of the steel gray M9 (in real life, with either black or silver lens)?
I'm just interested to see how it looks with people holding it (+accessories like thumbsup, etc)
What skin colour do you suppose it goes with best? The Russian President uses a black M9, so should Mr. Obama have a grey one?

Because everyone knows black ones take better pictures. Derrrr . . .
And as they say, once you go black you never go back.

In my experience the black paint on most cameras is delicate and scratches easily.
Perhaps this is intentional, as many are enamored of the "experienced PJ" look.
I like my cameras to look new and spiffy longer and so prefer chrome and black to all black.

That is just gorgeous. I already have an m6 with the same strap (blue instead of red thread), and the silver 35 biogon is next...
How about the perversion of a black body and a chrome lens?

I had a black M8, now I'm hunting for a silver one. There's something about the silver M8 that gets to me.

I prefer black but its not a big deal. I feel black is more subtle and blends in better. Silver or silver and black stick out more, but when people see it they smile at the old-timey camera the hippie (me) is playing with.

just got myself a black M8, i think the silver is just stunning, but the black... ...it's just awesome. very pleased with my choise of color
Congrats, k.a., on your new acquisition.
What a tough choice! Black or silver; silver or black.... I often go for one of each! That way I have a backup, and I can easily tell them apart. Pentax K2, Hexar RF, M8... go for broke!

I decided to go black for digital and chrome for film simply to know where I was each time I picked up my camera - age thing I guess.
Looking for a nice & cheap chrome M4-P right now and all I see is black, black ,black. I may have to change my method here. grrrr

Black because it's less conspicuous on the street.

I bought my M8 from Popflash and black was what was available in a used camera. I actually would have preferred a panda. S

Black is nice if it's mint but chrome wears more gracefully.
