IDEA! 2010 FSU Contest!!

all i have is a industar 50 rigid, Is fedka.com the place to go for a fsu body to go with it? I need something that works requires no CLA so that i can participate.
 
I'm in.

I will be loading the Kharkov rig with Delta 100 and soup in Rodinal.

Just tell me where to aim (east? :p) and what to shoot for (anything capitalist, or German, when it comes to my rig :p)

I don't see any harm in having one category FSU gear only.
And a second category for FSU lenses, this would allow digital bodies.

Horizon panorama camera ok ? Is that 35mm ? The negative is longer then 35mm, and I don't know if it's build under communism (but it would give me an excuse to get mine out of the closet again :)).

I'm in! It will give me the encouragement I need to lube my Zorki4 and Jupiter 8 and take them for a spin. Aside from gear, any subject, and film, anything goes?

What about a prize, obviously i think it's a good idea but what do you all think

When do we want to start? Or should some just shout GO ?
 
absolutely mate there has to be a start date so that every one has time to rush out and buy a camera or get theirs of the shelf and make sure it still works :)
May the 1st is a big day in Russia so why not start on that day and run the contest for the month of May?
May 9th is Victory day !
That does give us plenty of time to discuss rule or the lack of them it also give us time to get lots of people interested like those 288 member that have viewed this thread :) you know who you are :)
Mr Medvedev and Mr Putin are also welcome to submit photos ... I hear they are keen photographers.
 
For a pure FSU contest the rules should be like FSU lens + FSU body + FSU film!
I can't believe nobody uses Svema and Tasma these days :D
That's going to be the real one!

I'm starting to lean to three categories so more can participate!

-The People's Photography Contest-

Made in the U.S.S.R. - All FSU Gear Include all brands all types of cameras from FSU. EXCEPT anything produced by LOMO or any other Soviet optics/camera company that was not being manufactured or sold prior to 1991

Peaking Behind The Iron Curtain - Any film camera with FSU Lens

Looking through FSU - Digital bodies with FSU lens. No manipulation beyond WB correction, Black and White conversion, and basic darkroom technique (No HDR).

I can get behind this but only if it's exclusively FSU body/lenses and no digital/German/DDR/etc combos and only shot during set period of time.

It's just that I've seen the same attempted elsewhere where the rules towards the end were relaxed to include Chinese camera shots from 10 years ago. Kinda puts why-even-bother spirit into whole initiative.

I think I'll use my plastic Agat or Smena and blow all your Zorkis away with some distorted halfframe magic :)
