Summarit 5cm Photos

Is it me - or it has a swirly bokeh in a in the center in a first shot? Plus if you like it - great - I never said it was not fine. Just nothing special to me, Thats all.

I like the photos - composition and ideas. However, I really don't see what is so special about this lens. Same photos taken with the Summicron or Summitar or Planar would look at least as good. Just my opinion.

A very valid opinion. However, the OP was just following up on a promise to post examples, not making any statement about the lens being better or worse than any other. I'm glad he did, because it made me give mine an outing and it looks cool on my M 😎 😉

Bokeh can be a bit dodgy wide open, but stop down a bit and its fine. Attached shot another snap from this evening at F4.

Ned - thanks for posting the shots! I have been looking forward to them and they did not disappoint. Thanks also to Gid and Roma. My M-mount Summarit is at DAG for a CLA right now. I have a LTM Summarit that is clean(er), and I have some shots made with it on the IIIf at the lab. The Summarit is a bit big for the screw-mount bodies IMHO. I have been shooting more with the better-balanced Summar and especially the Nikkor SC on the IIIf, but now I feel the need to shoot my next roll with the Summarit.

Cheers! - John

what's the range of prices on these lenses? what $ would be considered a good buy?

I picked up the LTM Summarit on eBay for a BIN of $175. The glass is excellent and everything works but the external cosmetics aren't perfect. Well shucks.

The M-mount examples seem to go for more money. Mine was $225 and then I had to do a CLA which will put another $100+ into the price - not such a good deal.

With these older lenses you pays your money and you takes your chances.

Where do you see swirly bokeh? I do not see this at all.

Edit, on 5/14/10: Yes, now I see it, in the upper center.
